Update: Was finally able to reconnect after months. App is still horrible. Timer rarely works properly. Waiting for a better competitor so I can switch over. Be warned... Device disconnected from Wi-Fi and I'm unable to add it back. I'm going to replace it with a competitor's product. Missing the ability to see how long a cook has been going since reaching temperature. Many of us set a temp and start without setting a timer.

needs work for sure, this is a brand new unit literally bought less than a month ago was hoping for more from the app, receive no notifications even though all permissions are allowed, what's the notification setting for? no alarms @ the end of your cook time, no notifications period! A $30 probe BBQ temp unit has these features seems, silly that a high-end unit has overlooked the basics. like a temp range, being able to connect multiple units, and notifications, any notifications!!!

Update 5 years later. In 2018, the experience was good. After not using the cooker in a year, I tried it last week with the upgraded app. I had to reconnect my phone, app and Anova cooker -- and that process took about 15 mins, despite my phone and cooker within a foot of each other, and in my house with an excellent WiFi signal. Disappointing. It eventually worked, but seems flakey, periodically not showing the same "current temperature" on the app as on the device itself.
