Small Font Font is small. and compact. I still prefer Kik as it is not connected to my main, personal email account for the last 21+ years. I think AIM is OK as web browser chat platform, but not so great as an Android app. Update, 9/2016---Bigger font is good, but it's only one size bigger. AIM to SMS is great. Getting more spam from AOL these days.

Nothing has been fixed Since the last update back in, what June? I have been unable to silence the sound notification on the app. And I'm not dumb, I know where it is on the app and if I could show you that I have it selected I would, but I can't. Not only that but now I won't get alerts for a message until hours if not days later. It will suddenly update to show over 400+ messages that I was unaware of. And currently the stream is gone. Don't ask me to send a message of what is wrong, I did that 3x and nothings been fixed.

Unreliable For all the updates it has undergone, there's no excuse for it to be working so unreliably. I've been disconnected multiple times only for the app to seem unable to reconnect me. There should be no reason why I should go through the trouble of uninstalling and reinstalling an app just to log in.

No sound, messages disappear My sound doesn't work even though it's on, and my messages dissapear before I can even read them causing people to resend them. People are getting irritated that I can't hear them message me and they have to resend messages because aim tells me they are there but they aren't.

Can't we just have the yellow running man back? So many missing messages all the time. Have to close out and reconnect to see everything. Can't log in. Can't remember my password from 15 years ago and when I go to "forgot password" all I get is an error page that says "your sign in got derailed" with no mechanism for retrieving my password. I'm assuming this app exists for the purpose of new users considering that most people probably forgot their passowords by now. Don't see how that is useful considering we have facebook and dozens of other ways to communicate with people. Hmm, no wonder aol became useless a long time ago.

We're happy to report the issue with AIM updates should be resolved. If issues persist please let us know. Unreliable For all the updates it has undergone, there's no excuse for it to be working so unreliably. I've been disconnected multiple times only for the app to seem unable to reconnect me. Thanks. Old one but a goodie I love that I can relive my younger days with this app and it so easy to use. You just have to follow the instructions, if not than I understand why alot of people put negative comments on it. It's old school.people,it was meant for our dirty 30 crowd. It was our idea of socializing back in the day before Fb messenger,or others like hangouts,whatsapp and so on. Their is nothing wrong with the app. It's fair and I love how you can put the classic mode on and still be able to link it to modern messengers.

Hi Anaid! Thanks for being such a loyal AOL user. We really appreciate it. Thanks so much for the review and the feedback. I'll say it again. Better than Skype by leaps and bounds, but right now we're comparing trash with trash. Consistent issues with staying logged/getting/sending messages. Constantly have to shut down the app and restart. This is on both my cell and tablet so I know it's not a single device issue. I love you, I wish more of my friends used AIM than Skype, but please. When you first brought back the running man this app was amazing, bring that back! (Then again maybe Skype had set my expectations low haha)

Why a sudden drop? It worked fine this morning.

I've gotten at least 20 duplicate messages from someone and they say that they receive duplicates from myself as well. Also it won't let me respond until it's done glitching with the duplicates.

Still the best messenger app across pcs and mobile devices. AIM is the ONLY one who can do this properly. Notifications live on PCs at work and mobile devices. We have tried every major program on earth. AIM is beyond question #1 in true cloud messaging. It's not perfect, but it is as close as it gets out there, people. They've been doing it the longest, so I hope they hang onto the people that realize how this should all work. We use this for mission-critical IT operations.

I am glad that you are enjoying all of the features of the AOL app. We're always working hard to improve the app. Thanks for your download and feedback. It's okay......but, I would like to be able to send a message to someone's e-mail address, but this program will not allow me to do so. Definitely do enjoy it, though. Sometimes messages (received) are duplicate, & I don't know why. In one instance I also tried posting to Facebook, & it didn't want to work.

Still enjoy AIM Love to use this app to communicate but wish there were more options for notification colors. Also, the sounds will not mute, at all. I have them set to mute and silent and they still aren't off!! It's very annoying.

I have that turned off, when I pull down my notification screen it shows the message I just read. I can sign out and it will still be there. I know what I'm talking about.

If you are having issues signing in, please send us additional info to aim.support@aim.com including your username. Still too many glitches. I still have issues with receiving messages when actually sent. My internet connection is fine. Also I was given an email to contact about all these issues before NEVER heard back. Now statuses have disappeared and I hear that they no longer exist? Starting to think it's time to find a new IM service.

I am sorry that you are having issues with the app. If you are still having issues, please contact aim.support@aim.com Effective, odd on phone AIM is a reliable standard in IM but the app sometimes will not display messages that are part of the same conversation stream, but received on another device, and vice versa. If this is an expected consequence so be it, but I personally was surprised at first.

First time user so I created an account but now it will not open at all or give a reason for not doing so!! It just goes back to create account page. Fix it ASAP ok & will maybe get three stars.

Was great but... I use aim all the time but lately my sound isn't working. I'll be waiting to hear from someone and the message will come in with no notification of its arrival. It is the same for my phone as well. A message will come in and there is no sound to let me know I have received a message.

Notifications have their own sound volume and you may need to check this setting. Typically when the phone is set to silent or vibrate all sound volume is set to 0. Awesome!!! I like it. It's easy to use. The only thing missing is the sound effects from the 2000's. It would be awesome if you all bring those back. So many great memories from using aim. On a scale of 1 to 10 ...ill give aim a 10!!! :)

Come on AOL, bring colored fonts please. You guys started colored fonts. Comes in handy in chat rooms when many people are present. Be different, be the only app with colored fonts across Android and iOS. Is it really that difficult to do?

Sorry for the delay, can you confirm the Android version on the Nook, please keep in mind that if it's the same as on the tablet it should work just fine.
If you continue to have issues, please send us screenshots during the installation process and the error page at aim.support@aim.com. annoying the app was ok until it updated and now the notification sound wont stop. i tried turning it off in phone settings and the apps preferences but no go- which forces me to keep my notifs sound turned off, meaning i dont hear my text messages or messengers either. its annoying. on top of that now the app permanently has a notification signalling 5 unread messages (the colored circle on the top corner of the app). i marked all of the chats as read and even blocked notifs on phone settings and its still there.

In AIM app settings there is a "Quiet Hours" option. This would allow you to mute notifications for a specific part of the day. If you do not want any notifications sounds from AIM, the option for "Silent" vs "Default" can be set. This too is found in Settings > Sounds Not consistent Keeps telling me AIM is offline when all of my other apps work. I have tried reinstalling...using my hotspot and my phones 4G network. Nothing works!

Please actually fix the program as it is littered with bug issues. Aim itself was a great form of communication back in the day on the computer but this app is virtually useless with the constant inability to send the messages without an error send continuously occurring literally almost every other message you try to type.

Could you also confirm the device type, OS version and the Carrier provider? Never had a sign issue Never had a sign issue yahoo, then yahoo did something stupid forcing me to AIM and these can't unfold a napkin. 3 days to active account, and issues logging ever since.

The Lifestream made AIM entertaining and fun and now, without it, it's essentially another messenger that doesn't stand out. Bring back the Lifestream!

Thank you for reaching out. You can add any name to "My name" in settings via AIM app. This should be displayed instead of screen name.
Please note, others will have to use the full name to add you to their buddy list initially. My little running man never lights up since the June update. No LED notification Ever works, the Only time I get any sound notification is when the app is not open, and half the time the icon notifications dont work either. It was bad enough when you "fixed" the rapid blink LED notification, but these last changes are the worst! !!! ever. I have nothing good to say. I've been using aol for twenty years and I've not hated a change this much since AOL upgraded from 6.0 to 7.0.

The sound notifications can be turned off in the settings on the app or in the app manager on your phone. For instructions or if you are still having issues, please contact aim.support@aim.com. Good app plus room for improvement The app is nice . My wife can still use AIM on her full size keyboard, and we can still chat, albeit more slowly since I have to use the 'hunt and peck ' method to type. Unfortunately, the keypad on my phone takes up half the screen, so less viewing. The main infuriating thing is the scroll bar. If I touch it in any way, I am all the way to the top of the conversation without realizing it. I can do without it.

Keyboard will take up half or more of the screen, depending on how the phone is oriented. This is working as designed to allow room for typing.
However, when switching from horizontal to vertical view; the chat is automatically placed at the top of the conversation history. I do have to touch scroll to the bottom, to view most recent chat. Could EASILY be IMPROVED Everything works about 50% of the time. Giving Notifications, Closing unexpectedly & there is no control to save something u need. & the most annoying thing of all is having to scroll down to the NEW MESSAGE EVERYTIME u send one to receive one back. Thank U for the 50% tho I do get use out of it

My only complaint is that it crashes a lot and it takes longer to load very often.

Updates It is kinda ridiculous you deleted the updates without giving your users any thought on if they want the updates back or not, that's gonna cause so many users to uninstall your app and go directly to Microsoft or Yahoo even. Like why remove the updates for? What reason is that? I'm personally gonna uninstall this and find another app.
