It does take a little bit of patience like people said. It took about a dozen tries with the QR code and I got 503 errors but then it found the serial number and I was on to connection. I connected no problem, but then it dropped, and I had to reset Wi-Fi. I started that process over, and went through the whole menu successfully. So far it's working well.

Edit: after over an hour on Tech Support hold, and then waiting 2 hours for a call-back, finally got a CSR that was able to do something on their end and the app finally is working!!! Serial Number Not Recognized. I've tried the QR code scanner, I've tried entering it manually, I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app... I've entered the SN so many times I've just about got it memorized, but "Not Recognized". I paid EXTRA for remote access to my hot water heater and it DOES NOT WORK.

Did not recognize serial number. Had to do it multiple times over a couple of days before it did recognize it. Wifi setup took about 40 attempts before being able to select router. After that it doesn't stay connected and the app has sign-in issues. Both apps are useless.
