Anykščiai arts center
Anykščiai arts center is a multifunctional art center, which collects, preserves and popularises professional, folk and sacral art, also locals creative legacy. Center combines Sacral art center, Angels museum, Anykščiai chapel and Anykščiai church‘s tower site reviews into single complex. It is a cultural space which stimulates the understanding of the identity, it lets locals and town‘s guests to know about their hystorical roots, it also lets everyone to know about Anykščiai aura, in which a lot of famous Lithuanians were born.
Sacral art was established in 2009. It houses the Monsignor Albertas Talačka‘s collection which contains more than 50 paintings. The most famous painting is italian painter‘s Carlo Maratti work which was painted on copper plate and it is the only painting of his in Lithuania. There are also John Baptist Lampi‘s, Simonas‘s Čechavičius, Jhohn Rustem‘s Antanas Žmuidzinavičius‘s, Kazys Šimonis‘s, Česlovas Kontrimas‘s, Vaidotas Žukas‘s and others paintings. In bible there are more than 4000 valuable books and manuscripts.
In 2010 first Angels museum in Lithuania was opened. The collection of angels was given by cultural figure Beatričė Kleizaitė – Vasaris. There are more than 100 angels which are painted, wooden, ceramic, made from glass and in many other shapes. You may find Lithuania‘s national culture and art prize winners Leonas Stioga‘s and Vladas Vildžiūnas‘s works, also L. Gutauskas‘s, A. Stasiulevičius‘s, V. Ignas‘s, J. Ivanauskaitė‘s, F. Linčiutė‘s works, Lithuanian folk artists works, the old Lithuanian sacral art. Artists keep giving their angels so collection keeps growing. Come to Angels museum, because only here you can find the mysterious postbox and a magical Angel. Angels makes all the wishes come true...
A century ago emerged Anykščiai St. apostle evangelist Matthew‘s church is famous not only because of its hight (the neo-gothic twin tower church is the highest church in Lithuania – 79 meters), art works, but also it‘s tower site reviews. There are 33 steps up which are not hard to overcome in a few minutes. When the top is reached you are right under the three bells and the spectacular Anykščiai landscape is just in front of you.
