This is relatively quick. As soon as you start to consciously and lovingly perceive what your eating needs are, where your hunger is felt and how, you start to eat less on your own.
If you want to lose more weight, you can also use a calorie counter to relax and pay attention to calories and get enough exercise.
If it "hangs" and you do not lose weight, mostly psychological reasons play a role. That means you "need" too much food, sugar or fat to deal with a psychological issue.
