in the freaking mode I wish you could turn off the sound effect for getting the answer right or pick a different sound. sometimes it interferes with the sound of the character. I know you can tap to hear the sound again but when I'm trying to go as fast as I can, it's kind of annoying -----dropping a star because the freaking mode in katakana starts using hiragana. which is okay if there's a mode to blend them. but if I just want to practice one or the other it shouldn't be mixing them up.

As a fresh beginner in this, I found it horribly confusing and stressful. Now, I find it easier. It is a good way to show you Japanese characters, and come to recognize them. Still, I would not go to apps for learning any language. A book has better and more information. But for just an app, it is good.

Great app for reinforcing the Japanese letters to memory. If you are just starting out learning to read the hiragana and katakana letter groups you can't go wrong with this app. The quiz section doesn't give you multiple choice like many others you have to type the romanji, and personally I find that to be the best way to help commit to memory. Get something wrong? It will give you the option to see what the correct answer was. Not to mention the flashcards. Highly recommended 5/5
