Realizing the importance of handling his business early in his career, DJ DEMP was the DJ who rented out the club and promoted his own party oppose to just being hired to DJ. DEMP also worked as a mixshow DJ at stations such as Florida State’s WVFS 89.7, Clear Channel’s WBWT 100.7 the Beat but constant calls to hit the road with recording artists made DJ DEMP realize holding down a mixshow would be close to impossible. DJ DEMP toured the world with artist such as Trick Daddy, Uncle Luke, Juvenile, Lil Flip, David Banner and many more. He has appeared on Carson Daly, BET 106 & Park and was nominated for DJ of the Year by Radio One Dirty Awards joining the ranks of DJs such as Irie, Drama, Michael Watts and more.
While touring, DJ DEMP networked and maintained strong relations with many celebrities. DEMP would invite these same celebrities to Tallahassee in 1998 when he decided to have a weeklong party to celebrate his January 9th birthday. Celebrities such as the Nappy Roots, Twista, Lisa Raye, Rick Ross, George Clinton, Trick Daddy, Juvenile, Field Mob, Jae Millz, Red Rat, So So Def, the And 1 Mixtape ballers, the owners of FUBU and so many more have participated in the annual event. DEMP Week has grown from a week long party to an event that raises money and awareness for various charity based organizations and community initiatives.

its commitment to the mission of uplifting and improving the lives of the residents of the Aiken community. The present building, which is located on Hampton Avenue, was designed and constructed in 1920 by the pastor, architect, and builder Reverend Jesse M. Miles.
Second Baptist has always been an active participant in the life and growth of Aiken. The first Head Start program in Aiken was organized and held at the Church. Second Baptist youths were the first African-Americans to take part in the citywide athletic church league.
Reverend Douglas A. Slaughter is only the eleventh pastor to serve the church in its more than 100-year history. Since the beginning of his leadership in September of 1993, Second Baptist Church has been able to continue in many ways to accelerate its broader mission of initiating service and programs aimed at the defined needs of the total Aiken community.
