Faith in the Angels; and People who deserve the Salaat of Allah's Angels and those who deserve their La'nah
A compilation by Shawana A. Aziz
About the Book
Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan (hafidahullah) writes in his treatise, al-Eeman bil-Malaaikah wa-Athruhu fi-Hayatil-Ummah,
’Belief in the Angels has a tremendous effect on human life because if one is aware of their presence (around him), he becomes alert.
If he knows that there are angels assigned to watch over him day and night, he becomes cautious that they may write something (that he says or does) which is not befitting (and not in the best interest of his well-being in the hereafter.
If he were to know that investigators were following him, would he not be cautious - fearing that they might take hold of some speech or action which might lead to a harmful outcome? So why is he not cautious of the Angels? You see the humans who may be following you and you can hide from them— but Angels see you while you do not see them. It is possible to escape (from the eyes) of humans by taking cover in your house, or hiding yourself in an unknown place and they will not know about you. But the Angels enter every place with you. Allah has bestowed upon them the ability to access any place that He orders them to reach and it is for this reason that Allah admonished us and said, ’But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you, Kiraman (honorable) Katibeen (writing down your deeds). They know all that you do.“ [Soorah al-Infitar (82): 10-12]
This is the fruit of Eeman (belief) in Angels - that the person safeguards himself from sinful sayings and actions that will be recorded (in his book of deeds) and he will be accountable for them on the Day of Judgement.“ [end quote]
This booklet comprehensively covers all four aspects of Belief in Angels; belief in their existence, functions, names and attributes. Additionally, important points of Tawheed are highlighted by refuting incorrect understandings, for example the false claims of contemporary grave-worshippers that are similar to those made by the pagan Quraish during the time of Allah‘s Messenger.
In the course of the booklet, clarification of a number of doubts have also been included such as explaining Qur'aanic verses like, ’We are nearer to him than his jugular vein...“ This refers to the Angels of Allah and does not indicate that Allah is present amongst His creation.
The booklet also compares the likeness in the thinking of those who claim that Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) was created from Nur (i.e., light, which is a characteristic of the Angels) and the mentality of the disbelievers who demanded that an Angel be sent as a Messenger.
The latter section of the booklet enumerates characteristics of those fortunate people, on behalf of whom the Angels seek forgiveness and supplicate for their well-being in this world and the Hereafter. It also lists those unfortunate people, against whom the Angels invoke Allah.
This part of the book is mainly based upon the book, 'Fariston ka Darood panewale aur Lanat panewale' (Urdu) by Dr. Fazl-e-Ilahi.
Numerous other original Arabic books were referred to in the compilation of this booklet, mainly; al-Eeman bil-Malaaikah wa-Athruhu fi-Hayatil-Ummah by Shaikh Salih Ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan, Aalam al-Malaai'kah al-Abrar and ar-Rusul war-Risalaat by Shaikh Umar al-Ashqar, beneficial lectures of Shaikh (Dr.) Abdullah al-Farsi, Tafseer Ibn Katheer, Riyadus-Saliheen and others.
May Allah make us amongst those who deserve the Salaat of His Angels. All strength and success lies with Him Alone.

It is due to the seriousness of Shaytan’s fitnah (temptation, tribulation, trial) that Allah has distinctly exposed his goals and plots in the Qur’aan. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wasallam) repeatedly warned against Shaytan’s power to tempt mankind into disobeying Allah. He (sallallahu alaihe wasallam) would relentlessly reveal Shaytan’s trickery and deceit and inform about ways of defense against the accursed.
So, what are the deceptions, tricks and strategies of Shaytan? How does Shaytan enter the human soul and drive it towards sin and transgression? How does he corrupt people’s hearts and souls by making false promises and arousing high hopes? Does Shaytan posses the power to force us into committing sins? To what extent will Shaytan succeed in achieving his goal? Can we defeat Shaytan?
This booklet will Insha’Allah, comprehensively answer these baffling questions and dispel many doubts on the subject like why Allah created Shaytan and why Shaytan was granted his request to remain alive until the Day of Judgement.
This booklet will also elaborate upon Aqeedah points that are learnt from the disgraceful story of Shaytan’s failure and from the grievous stories of those who fell into his traps from the nations past.
The last part of this booklet focuses on the means prescribed in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah to dispel Shaytan and protect ourselves and our homes from him.
A number of original Arabic works were referred to in the compilation of this booklet, most importantly; Shaytan: Khutuwatihi wa-Gayatihi by Wail Umar Ali Basheer, Adawatush-Shaytan lil-Insan, Alam al-Jinn, Tafseer al-Kabeer by Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah al-Rajhi, Aqeedah at-Tawheed by Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan, Tafseer Ibn Katheer and others.
I hope this booklet will serve as a handy weapon in combating Shaytan and all success lies with Allah.

How do we believe in the Last Day?
Translated by Shawana A. Aziz
This booklet is part of the Arabic book
'Sharh Hadeeth Jibra'eel' by Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen
"Faith in the Last Day is to believe that mankind will be resurrected and recompensed for their deeds.
It is to believe in everything that has come to us in the Book and the Sunnah concerning the description of that Day.
Allah has vividly described that Day such as the following verse, “O mankind! Fear your Lord and be dutiful to Him! Verily, the earthquake of the Hour (of Judgment) is a terrible thing. The Day you shall see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling and every pregnant one will drop her load, and you shall see mankind as in a drunken state. Yet they will not be drunk but severe will be the Torment of Allah.” [Soorah al-Hajj (22): 1-2]
There are numerous descriptions of the Last Day in the Quran and the Sunnah that testify to the horror and terrible nature of this Day.
Faith in the Last Day is not limited to believing in the Day that will be established after resurrection, as Shaikhul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) writes in Aqeedah al-Wastiyyah, “Faith in the Last Day includes believing in everything that the Messenger has informed us about that will happen after death.”
About the Book: In the Evolution of Fiqh (Islamic Law & the Madh-habs), the author very clearly presents a brief overview of the historical development of Islamic law and its schools (the madh-habs).
The book identifies the main reason for the appearance of the madh-habs and the factors leading to differences among them.
For those to whom the madh-habs have been a mystery, this aspect of the book will be extremely enlightening.
Although the author sheds light on both the positive and negative roles of the madh-habs in the past, the main message of the book is a call to the understanding of logistic differences (with an aim to remove them where possible),and a proposal for the unification of the madh-habs.
"What makes this book stimulating are the perceptive and penetrating questions that Abu Ameenah raises.
The book is important as it draws the Muslims' attention to self-criticism that is long overdue."
This is a e-flip book to know what is Islam.

This booklet is translation of a part of the Arabic book
'Sharh Hadeeth Jibra'eel' by Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah)
Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan writes in Mujmal Aqeedah as-Salaf,
"Many groups have been misled in their understanding of Qadar (Predestination/Divine Decree). From them are the Jahmiyah and the Jabriyah who claim that the slave is forced in his actions and he has no control, ability or will. He is like a feather or a leaf which is blown by the wind.
Another group went to the other extreme and declared that every man creates his own actions. Allah has no will or control in the slave's action. The slave performs his actions by his choice and power that is independent of the Will of Allah. Some of them exaggerated to the extent that they said that Allah does not know the thing before it occurs...
The first group (Jabriyah) affirmed the Divine Decree and exaggerated (in their affirmation of Allah's Will) and thus robbed the slave from his will.
The second group (Qadariyah) exaggerated in (their affirmation of) the slave's will until they denied the Will and Decree of Allah. Both these groups are greatly mistaken and misguided.
The Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah is on the middle path – they affirm ability, choice and will for the slave but it is subservient to the Will and Power of Allah and the slave cannot do anything except by the Will of Allah. [end quote]
This booklet gives the reader a thorough understanding of how the will, choice and ability of the slave are subservient to the Will and Power of Allah in the words of the noble Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah)
Apart from explaining what it means to believe in the Divine Decree, the Shaikh has expansively clarified important issues related to the subject, like Allah's Will for the occurrence of Kufr despite His Hatred for it.
Explanation of additional issues like - the sinner's justification by predestination, Is it obligatory upon us to be pleased with what has been decreed? - make the book more comprehensive and beneficial for the reader.
We ask Allah to forgive our mistakes and make us amongst those who are patient and pleased with the Decree of Allah. Ameen.
