MacroDroid is a powerful task automation and configuration app that focuses heavily on usability with a simple UI and logical step by step process.
A few examples of what MacroDroid can automate:
Turn on the Wifi connection when you launch a particular app (and off again when closed).
Auto respond to a specific incoming SMS by sending your current location.
Toggle the power button to tell you the time (without taking out of your pocket).
Use NFC tags to configure the device (turn on bluetooth, set volume etc).
Creating a custom macro is easy:
Click 'Add Macro'
Select a trigger from the list - (e.g. Battery Level).
Configure trigger specific settings (e.g. Battery Level < 10%)
Select an action from the list (e.g Configure Wifi)
Configure action specific setting (e.g. Disable Wifi)
Add more actions as required
(Optionally) add constraints from the list (e.g. Day of the Week)
Configure constraints as required (e.g. Saturday and Sunday)
Add more constraints as required
Choose a name and category for the macro
MacroDroid includes many built in and user shared templates to demonstrate the power and flexibility of the application and help you get started. These templates can be used as is, or easily customised to meet your needs.
This app uses the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN). This permission is used by the failed login trigger (nothing else) and will only be enabled if you explicitly give MacroDroid device admin access from within the app.
This app uses Accessibility services. It is a useful tool to help those with disabilities use their device more easily. MacroDroid is widely embraced by the blind community and those with limited motor skills to provide simple automations to greatly simplify device usage.

I used to love this app. Absolutely loved it. But since I upgraded my phone and am now running Nougat (7.1.1) I've lost all functionality of WiFi Hotspot Trigger (my main reason for using Macro). Will change to 5 star as soon as we can get that back!

Would be great if you can use mms as a trigger

Works great! Thanks! :)

Please add idle time as a trigger. I would like to disable my WiFi when I am disconnected from any networks, but only after my phone has been disconnected and idle for more than X minutes. Sometimes a poor connection can cut off wifi and the rule will kick in immediately, which is not what I want.

Incredible app, something I've been looking for in android for a long time!! I am definitely buying the full version. Well done, I never give this high a rating for any app. This is fantastic!! This dev is one of the very few devs that actually listens to the customer and rolls the doable requests into his software. Still the absolute best app for Android scripted macros, so powerful that I've barely touched the surface of what this can do!!! Latest update (with admin rights) causes the OS to freeze, even with an uninstall then install fresh. HTC 10, if you force reeboot it will work but really F's up the system with a total lock up.

Don't work always. I had one low volume profile when connected to a particualr wifi SSID. It works many times and some times, though it is connected yo the same WiFi SSID also, the profile that is supposed to be activated have failed. It was embrased me in a meeting.
I've tried tasker and it's very clever but too much to get my head around quickly. Macrodroid is powerful and easy to get the hang of really quickly. Haven't found any bugs either. I have already constructed quite sophisticated macros to silence my phone when i have appointments automatically and sith the WiFi on and off with geofence. A piece of cake with a short and fast learning curve. I've thrown out all the schedule manager apps which seem unreliable. This does all that and so much more.
Switched to Macrodroid from Llama (after Nougat broke llama's functionality). Love how this app has cell tower feature w learning capabilities, gps toggling functionality, and ability to set different icons. Powerful automation tool and easy to ise. unfortunately, there is a bug that changes volume steps to just 4 steps (0, 25%, 50%, and then 100%), havent been able to figure out why that randomly happens, but volume restored to 15 steps after uninstall of macrodroid. also fixes with reboot.
Highly recommended if you like to code. Very addictive! At first glance, you can see some really cool ways to use the app. It is easy to use. Then you dig a little deeper and realize what can be done with the variety of Triggers and Actions. I like setting up a Widget button to invert (change) a variable when activated, which in turn causes a Variable change Trigger to fire and changes the widget button icon and executes a macro which does most of the work. Such as silencing the phone, rejecting calls and text, you get idea. Then if that same variable is changed by a different macro or if that same widget button is pressed again, then fires that same main macro reversing all of the setting, if you choose to. Suggestion 1: The ability to share templates that include multiple macros, and widget buttons. Suggestion 2: It would be nice if we could create and/or edit our Macros in a text or code editor on a PC then import import into MacroDroid. Thanks for such a useful app. Keep up the good work!
Excellent app. Has made my phone so much more powerful. I have my phone reset to my preferred settings in the morning. Go silent and disable notifications when busy in Google calendar. Track time spent chatting and log it. Automatically dim my screen at sunset when I'm driving. And a whole host of other things. MacroDroid has allowed me to use my phone and ifttt to tie into my smarthome so that they all work together and automate away all the frustrating points of a technology driven lifestyle. And stupidly simple to use too.
Developer, Just writing this to help you understand the comment by an ignorant Indian "Bekar app". It simply means "useless app" in Urdu language. Looks like she has no idea what this app is for, and terms like macro, trigger, etc. just fly high above her head. If she can't understand what the app is for, she had better uninstall the app instead of making such inane remark.
Great app, I use it on a daily basis and even have requested that friends use it. One problem though - I forgot my password to get into the app, I would love it if it could have a way to restore it though an email in a future update. In the meantime and help with my problem would be appreciated!
This app is amazing and I feel that I'd be lost without it. However there are still a few things that I would like to see such as a orientation trigger or a cpu temp special text. I hope you read this cheers Edit: Can you recommend a similar app for Windows?
Not working, tryin to get my rooted Nexus 6 with android 8.1 to be unlocked when connected to my home Wifi, gave all permissions and device admin access, why its so hard to get it to work? edit: gawd damnit now it works but with screen pattern not with pin code.... pew glad i figured it out. Will consider purchasing now ;)

Long press on the action or hit the help button and it explains it may not work reliably. Unfortunately it's not possible to do this reliably on Android anymore as Google only want you to use their smart lock feature. Update: final 8.1 build has the flashlight working but now the autorotation doesn't work. Update: the shake device trigger seems to not be working properly. Running 8.1 on pixel xl. The other actions I use it for, like automating autorotation, work just fine, so something is wrong with the shake trigger. This coincides exactly with my upgrade to 8.1.

Just turn on accessibility afterwards and then disable after accepting the legacy mechanism . This is not ideal I fully accept but this inconvenience was just an oversight and will be corrected in the next update. Stopped working after Oreo 8.1 update. I uninstalled/installed, recreated all my macros, checked permissions, but still nothing. Majority of my macros won't fire up. Nothing in logs either.
This is a great app! Fyi- I just got a pixel 2, and macrodroid seems to interfere with the Photo Sphere camera tool. Not sure whether that's on Google's side or macrodroid's side, but wanted to put that out there
Can I just say WOW. Wow and WOW! I have been a long time Tasker user, but after finding this, I have switched and paid for it. Super easy to use, great UI, I would highly recommend. Constant updates, well done!
excellent app. i bought it for one purpose but find thousands of uses. for example, qustodio child tracking stops working after 20 mins when the phone dozes (android7). macrodroid made it easy to fix this problem.
This plus volume ace = now I can sleep at night. Uses the same battery as Tasker, a bit easier to configure. Now I can't stop
This app has literally made my life easier. Very well made, intuitive, with a TON of functionality. The dev even responded in minutes to a question I had. PRO version definitely worth it.
I'm not super savvy with phone modifications but have found that the layout of this app is very easy to follow and have been able to successfully set up different automated things like being able to press a shortcut that sends my wife a text message letting her know I'm on the way Home, opens up Waze and changes my volume to high. I look forward to seeing what else I can automate with this app.
Easy app for customization, and the dev is very active. If you have questions or problems, you can always check the forums and make a post, even.
Powerfull app. So many different triggers and actions. Many require rooting however. Makes me want to root my phone. Great job!
The app is great, works with tasker plugins and is free for 5 macros, that's more than enough for a lot of people. But I would love to see a section where it would show currently running macros because sometimes I have macros which have long "wait before next actions" and I don't know if they are running or not.
It couldn't be easier to write a macro. The only problem I had so far is that when I flip over my Nokia 5 the screen turns off as instructed by the macro, but then doesn't unlock with my fingerprint any more. Instead I have to put in my five figure pin now.there's probably a workaround somewhere, I just haven't got there yet...

This is a limitation of Android I'm afraid. If you have a rooted device it uses a different mechanism so you can unlock with fingerprint. Very functional app that really helps you get exponentially more out of your smartphone. You can search templates or write your own. I like using and tweaking what other people have provided, although the browsing section could be better organized. Still, the app can be insanely useful.
This a very powerful automation app, very simple to use, with a lot of options and in continue development. There is no need to be a programmer in order to be able to use it at its full power 💪. Thank you for the great app and please continue its development.
When enable accessibility for macrodroid and close all recent apps my capacitive keys stop working (miui8 & miui9) when disable accessibility all works fine again!!! And it is factory OS by the way not a custom one

If you are happy to try some pre release builds can contact me at support@macrodroid.com. I have some possible tweaks that may help but I can't recreate the initial issue personally. One of the best apps I have found out there even though it has a simple UI you can do so much with it the only complaint I have is getting any support for it when you have a question or a bug to report
I was hoping the Bluetooth would have phone options not just audio options so I could switch from watch to car mode automatically when starting car
BUG → My user icons just got cleared on updating to latest version, resulting in my notification button bar showing the Macrodroid icon 5 times • Great design • Complete set of features
doesn't even work to turn off mobile data when launching certain app trash app uninstall!

I guess you are unable to read that this needs root or an ADB hack to function (a platform limitation). Long press on the action for full information. Very nice UI, informative and helpful, powerful and loaded with features
Excellent device automation app. Hardly any learning curve, 5 free macros helps in that, but you soon realise what the app can do and gladly jump to the pro version.
Great app but for the custom 1x1 widget, as I resize it, the icon is not centered inside the rectangular boundary. Hope you can fix it. Cheers.
Came to this app a few months ago as a replacement for Llama and so far it's done everything I've needed. There's triggers for almost every event Android allows and the app's framework allows complex and specific rules to be built.
Works like a charm. No Steep Learning Curve as in Tasker. The Macro Wizard is intuitive and very helpful.
