This mantra is made up of 'Hare', 'Krishna' and 'Rama'. 'Krishna' and 'Rama' are the name of Lord Vishnu. Ram is the name of the incarnation of Vishnu in the Treta yug. Krishna is the name of the incarnation of Vishnu in the 'Dwaper yug'. The word Hare has come from 'Haran' which means to take away or to end.
