# Description

Scientific tool/solver to solve single variable non-linear equations (NLS). The app can compute multiple roots of a NLS. The app has two different options to compute the root of NS viz. (a) general (b) specific. General search option gives the root of NLS without any user specified limits (should be used for NLE with single roots).Specific search option gives the root within the limits specified by the user (should be used for NLS with multiple roots to find multiple roots with different limits).The results can be sent to any e-mail id by using “Send e-mail” option in main menu.The app has a very rich and user-friendly UI (user interface).

Please read the Equation format specified in help before attempting to solve complex non-linear equations.

The NLS solves the non-linear equations with an accuracy of 1e-7 (i.e. the value of the inputted non-linear equation would be less than or equal to 1e-7)

This is based on a recent blog post 'Helmhurts' at www.jasmcole.com, which was featured on io9, Ars Technica, the Daily Mail, Scientific American and many other blogs.

This app uses the 2D Finite Difference Time Domain method to solve Maxwell's equation on a Cartesian grid. An example floorplan is included in the app.

How to use:

Your floorplan needs to be a .png file, with empty space marked black and materials marked with colours. Images will be converted into the correct materials on loading - this may take a few seconds.

Pixels are mapped to 1 centimetre, so scale the floorplan appropriately.

The simulation is limited in speed due to the mobile processor, so try to keep images below approximately 500x500 pixels

Touch the image to set a router location, marked by a red circle. Select the antenna parameters at the bottom.

Set the number of iterations to run for, how often to plot the result, and the upper limit on the colourmap scale.

Choose a field to plot - the default is the out-of-plane electric field.

Click run and the simulation will begin. Click stop to pause at any time - this saves the simulation progress which can be continued by clicking run again. To reset, open an image again.

To save the simulation output as an image, click Save at any time. Images are saved to internal/external storage and added to the end of the camera roll.

To start recording a simulation click the record 'R' button. When the simulation is stopped a GIF animation is generated.

Under the bonnet:

An antenna oscillates at 2.4 GHz. The edges of the image use absorbing boundary conditions as in Mur 1981, IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility.

Where walls are defined, the relevant refractive indices and loss tangents for 2.4GHz radiation are used.

Wavelength and resolution are currently constant, this may change in a future release.

Disclaimer:

This app is not intended as a replacement for existing EM simulation software packages.

As a 2D approximation including only simple walls it does not accurately model a given floorplan.

It is, however, a bit of fun and entertaining to play with.

Simplex solve is a simple tool for solving linear programming problems using the Simplex algorithm. The app features a matrix or equation input format for convenience.

Usage:

1. After putting the linear programming problem in standard form, first enter the number of variables and constraints.

2. Next, choose an input method (matrix or equation) and a solve mode to find the minimum or maximum.

3. Input the problem.

3a. Matrix Input:

For matrix input, simply enter the coefficients of the variables, where the top row is the objective function coefficients and the rest of the rows are for constraint inputs.

3b. Equation input:

Enter the objective function, in the following format: Ax0+Bx1+Cx2...MXn where A B C...M are the coefficients. If the coefficient is 0, simply enter, for example, 0x1. The variable names MUST be x0, x1, x2....xn.

4. Press the solve button to solve the problem. The minimum/maximum will be displayed as well as the optimal value.

## Simple MIP Simplex Solver

Simple solver that uses the Gomory mixed integer cut algorithm to solve and give a step by step description on how to solve smaller LP, IP, MIP problems.
