About this game

PLANT, IRRIGATE, AND GROW BAMBOO… BUT WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SATISFY THE APPETITE OF THE GREEDY IMPERIAL PANDA?

The Japanese emperor has called the very best gardeners in the empire to compete for the complicated task of caring for his sacred panda. Only the gardener with the very best plots of bamboo will be able to satisfy this picky animal!

Plant a bamboo forest around the emperor’s pond. Cultivate and irrigate your plots to grow all the types of bamboo the panda loves.
To beat your rivals, make improvements to your plots: build irrigation channels or add fertilizer to accelerate the growth of your bamboo… and pray that the weather is favorable!

The player who completes the most objectives wins the game. Only one gardener can win the emperor’s favor… So grab a rake!

I love the boardgame, but the mobile version has some issues. There are only 5 yellow tiles and 7 pink (boardgame has 9 yellow and 7 pink) making yellow objectives more challenging than pink, but worth fewer points. As others have noted, you can't pause the game and return later and it's very easy to try to move the map and accidentally click on a tile and place something. Also, it can put 2 improvements on a tile which seems to be a bug.

This game would get 5 stars for graphics & animations. It's a truly beautiful game and a fantastic representation. So it pains me to give it 3 stars based on a few annoyances that severely degrade gameplay. First, you can't save your game and come back to it. Second, it's overly predictable. I draw the exact same cards, in the same order, every single game. Third, you need a large screen. I'm guessing half the time because I can barely read the number counts for bamboo and player totals.

Good game; flawed mobile implementation. The biggest issue is that local games aren't saved. If you leave the app (just switch, not close), the app may restart, and the previous game is lost. Obviously not great on mobile devices where a phone call can erase a game. The rules are also not well written or explained past a basic understanding. Otherwise, it's a good game with a beautiful interface.
