Seven tries. One word. Drawn from Scripture.
Every puzzle in Verselah hides a five-letter word taken from the canonical books of the Berean Standard Bible. Guess it in seven tries: each guess is pressed into the board like a wax seal, and the dye tells the truth. STONE means the letter is not in the word. BLUE means it is in the word, waiting in another place. PURPLE means it stands exactly where it belongs. Every verdict also carries an engraved corner mark, so the board still reads clearly if colour is hard to tell apart.
THE VERSE IS THE POINT
Solve the word and the verse it came from opens — and with it the original behind the English. All 801 answers carry their Hebrew or Greek word, written in its own script, with a transliteration and a meaning. When the answer is a person or a place, a pinned tag above the board says so before you begin.
801 PUZZLES, IN ORDER
Everyone walks the same road in the same order, from the first word to the eight hundred and first. No lives, no timers, no waiting until tomorrow. Play one puzzle or twenty. Reach the end and you can walk the road again.
THE SEVEN CIRCUITS
Israel marched around Jericho once a day for six days, and seven times on the seventh. The ring above the board counts your circuits: every word solved without a single miss lights one of its seven arcs. Light all seven and the walls come down. Miss a word and the arcs go out, because only clean solves count. Tap the ring at any time to see where you stand.
THE REMEZ
Six rows spent and one left? The Remez offers a glimpse of the verse surrounding the hidden word. Unseal it with a scroll from your satchel, or by watching a short ad. Once unsealed it stays open for that word — including if the board beats you and you take it again.
WHAT THE GAME KEEPS
Puzzles solved, clean solves, your current and best streak, solves by number of tries, walls fallen, the circuit you are walking, and how much of the road is left. Solve a word and you can share a parchment card of the finished board: the dye grid, the word, and the verse.
MADE TO BE QUIET
Dark stone, oiled leather and gold leaf, inscriptional capitals, and original music written for the game. An optional daily reminder at an hour you choose. Play as a guest, or sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook to keep your statistics if you change phones.
FREE TO PLAY
Nothing is locked behind payment. Occasional ads appear between puzzles, and a one-time Sabbath Rest removes them for good. Scroll packs are there if you would rather not watch an ad for a Remez.
WHO IT IS FOR
If you like a daily word puzzle and you read your Bible, this was built for the overlap. A Bible word game for people who want the verse as much as the win: five minutes with coffee, a round at family devotions, or a small group comparing boards. The vocabulary is Scripture's own, so the words you learn are words you will meet again in the text.
Verselah (ver-SAY-lah) blends verse and selah, the pause in the Psalms that asks you to stop and consider.
"A word fitly spoken." — Proverbs 25:11
Scripture quotations are from the Berean Standard Bible, which is in the public domain.
A daily Bible word game. Guess the hidden Scripture word, then find the verse.
