Using it for Finnish, paid for premium. Sometimes I don't write things down and due to the language it doesn't always make sense the next day - thats not their fault though. Some verb structure lessons might be helpful, but it does give all variants in most cases. Will continue to use, and I'm learning how to use the app better for my learning abilities as time goes by. Finnish is hard to learn however you do it, so I'm not giving up!

I gave it three stars because of a few different reasons. 1) Everything is locked, I'm only able to do the hello part and the chatbot 2) There are multiple voices, and one is quicker than the other 3) I believe I have to pay to move on But other than that, it's a good app. I've been wanting to learn Croatian for ages, and I couldn't find any language apps that actually taught it. I can also go back to what I've already learnt and practise to get better at it. The voices are clear and I can understand them. I hope you can fix what I mentioned please! Hvala!

I started Finnish and has multiple voices witch one speaks too slow and the other too fast to understand, should have only 1 CONSISTENT voice. When you press on an underlined word to see the definition it is wrong or not clear enough, you click on each word in a answer or statement and all 2-3 words it says means the same thing when they clearly do not. Duolingo is FAR better, just wish they had Finnish!

Chatbot isn't working, need internet to use app, constant pestering to upgrade to premium. I want to get along with this app cuz its got potential just too many draw backs leave me salty after paying premium for something I can't use in remote areas.

The lessons are easy to learn. I have to know Spanish, French, and Chinese at my job, but could not find a good Chinese language learning app (other than Rosetta Stone) until I found this one. It's cheaper, and does basically the same thing as Rosetta Stone, which is a plus!

Limited I really like the app but it only lets me go so far and it won't let me unlock anything. It just keeps telling me I have to pay to move on. I've only had this app for a couple of days and this app has tought me a lot. But it would be nice if I didn't have to pay to move on

Read poor reviews pointing out that you're given little explanation of the Japanese grammar or vocab and have to guess most of the answers, but that's actually what I like about Mondly. I use this app to maintain the Japanese I've learned when I don't have time to study from my textbooks. Small bugs aside this app is perfect for my needs and I upgraded to premium even though $20 was a tad expensive. Just started learning Spanish and will practice it with Mondly soon too. Update: I'm now using the Spanish and Chinese sections in Mondly to supplement learning those languages. I take it back, really appreciate being able to access a variety of languages for the average cost of a self-study textbook.

I like the way the app functions, the design seems pretty good. However, I feel bad for having just paid for premium and finding out that a function like the microphone doesn't work. So basically, I would now like to find out how you guys can refund me as I signed up specifically for your chatbot feature. EDIT: They don't seem to respond to my above stated complaint. I paid almost 50euro for a product that doesn't work. I want my money back! EDIT 2: It's 4 days since I wrote them and I haven't heard a single thing. Please don't buy this app as these guys can't be trusted!

Initially it is quite useful but more explanation would be good on grammar as to why du becomes dir / such for example. Also some translations are incorrect e.g. a written letter is not correct and in the sentence construction the verb forms are mixed up between du and er/sie. 1/6/17: Have now given up and cancelled subscription as I am sick of nouns with no article ( important in German) and incorrect translations for verbs. Avoid the paid for version.

I started using the app in my ipad first but because i dont always carry my ipad with me so i installed it into my mobile as well. However when i login to the same account, it doesnt sync back the progress data to my mobile so i had to start all the lessons again in my mobile and the progress of my ipad and mobile is different. I think it would be good if the account can store progress data and then able to sync in both platforms. Now it gets me a bit messy of the progress in different machines.

The app is overall really good but I'm stuck in the Hello section because I tap and hold to record my voice but it's working properly. It's not my phone, I'm updating the app to see if the problem continues which I think might not be the issue at all. The app is currently updated and the problem is still there. I'm using a LG G4 and I believe it's compartible for all of the app's features. I want to pay for the subscription, is it relatated to the microphone use?

I like using the app, but it falls short in critical areas. Unlike Duo there is no option for a slower pace for spoken questions and there are different speakers speaking at different volumes and speeds. The spoken questions are often unclear.

The app is a little slow on my cellphone. The translations have some errors. But I love that actual people recorded the exercises and I also love the useful phrases. And it is very cheap. I hope you keep improving the app. I see a cash cow here for you guys.

Starting lessons are good. But daily lessons and further are sometimes confusing. 3/4 of today lesson they show you the verd for to fly, and in the end of the lesson phrase with completely different verb with close meaning. Really?

It's ok, but everything seems to be behind pay wall. I can't justify spending money on it when not much can be used. Trying to learn Korean, but can't get past chat bots. My wife can't either and she's a native Korean speaker.

Just started so far so good. I am learning German. My only complaint is that with learning nouns, they don't teach you the article most of the time. You can't know the word without knowing the article.

Love doing the daily lessons and the weekly revisions, and that there is always audio. Microphone can be a bit weird at times though. I paid premium, but get so many languages it's great value.

It gives new words without being able to find out what they mean - you just have to guess. Also it doesn't register what you say properly when speaking during lessons

I use Duolingo, I think it is great but having a second source (whenever you're serious about learning something) is very important. This app has very useful scripted chats with a chatbot, which allows you to drill on practical applications and human examples that allow you to better appreciate nuisances. Excellent app, on its own or like me as a companion for another course

I'm only on the free version but I can't see how this helps me long term. There's no consolidation of words, it's different words every day, and no explanation of the sentences. The chatbot didn't make sense either.. you just seem to record and listen to yourself? The speech is very slow. I couldn't find any help anywhere to explain how it works. I find I'm learning more with other language apps.

App isn't bad to learn a few basics. I can't speak for the paid version, but having read several unhappy reviews I'd say don't spend your money here. Aside from clearly poor customer service, the microphone feature doesn't work and there is little explanation of grammar and syntax. However to just learn a few key words and phrases it's just fine

I am learning Croatian language and I love the slow, clear diction - perfect for beginners. Would be better if all the sections worked alongside each other. Eg so that each vocab lesson correlated to the chatbot and quizzes a bit better. It seems they are a bit ahead or behind each other which is little off-putting. A more integrated approach would be awesome. That said, there is a lot of really excellent learning techniques built in. I really like this app. It's the best I have found so far for Croatian.

dear mondly thank you for making such a good app, if I may I could make some suggestions and if you responded with your opinion of my ideas that would be great! first of all, why no alphabet at the start if the language has a different writing system Memrise shows the alphabet at the start of Japanese and Arabic there should be starting letters with the sounds of the letter and test their knowledge of these letters by using your great learning system. it would bring most attention to your app and best of all the alphabet of every language learning that first could be a great help to others helping them understand how to use the alphabet in a sentence and being able to speak the chosen Foreign ABC's. another thing that would help is that Everytime they open the app just one small test with about 15 word practices of the words they already learned but may need a refreshment on it. also maybe taking different handwritten pictures of words and sentences and letting the learned translate it. or using shop signs made in the foreign language. another thing you could also do is show a picture (a house for example) and ask the learned what is this? in Russian it would sound like DOM, so the learned either speaks of types the Cyrillic word for DOM, which means 🏠. that's all I have for now. and if I may ask are you working on the ZULU language and the LATIN language? a information page of the progress of the languages you are developing possibly would be very nice.

This app is super glitchy and the microphone part has never worked properly for me. I started with the Korean lessons and put it on "beginner" and there's NO WAY that that's beginner level Korean. I speak conversational Korean already and just wanted to test the app out, but if I were starting at the beginning I would be completely lost. They quiz you on words before ever introducing them, and jump right into complex grammar structures without any explanation. It could be a great app but they've got a lot of work to do!!

I like the themes and the daily lessons (even if it isn't always counting them.) Expansion packs are great so you can select outside the general. Microphone is really a bit of a pain.

I love the app, have being using it to learn Croatian. Pronounciation of the words are great and really fun and easy to use. To further develop this app as I have used Livemocha before this one which allows you to learn the alphabet. I believe this would be really helpful if you were wishing to learn Russian or even Chinese and getting to feel with the characters. Also haing recordings that you can record yourself talking and sending them to native speakers to help with further pronounciation. These are little things but could increase user friendliness. I set the difficulty to 'advanced' and saw no difference between that and the beginner difficulty. When I picked 'advanced' I thought I could brush up on imperfect subjunctive and conditional, not translate 'I drink tea' 4 times in a row. Completely pointless.

Less typing of words than Duolingo. More hearing words. Which I prefer. Daily lessons are short and take up a couple of minutes of your time. Only complaint, the same phrase or word gets repeated in daily lesson, wish they'd fix that. Also would love to be able to save a phrase or sentence that I find it could use. Apart from those two things, I'm happy to have gone premium, just hearing Polish being spoken every time I use the app has helped me get my head around that crazy language a little bit better. UPDATE Have stopped using this app as it's SO repetitive, I just went back to it for first time in months and wasted 5 minutes of my time doing different variations of do you want to go to the theatre/opera. My gripe is they force repetition on you even when you have learned a certain phrase. If I wish to repeat something I'll do the lesson again.

Chatbot does not work. I took the recommended steps as per past reviews but to no avail. This app would have been fantastic but the chatbot voice recognition needs to be fixed.

It is a nice application to learn part of the language. I find helpful that they use different voices, so you learn to distinguish tone and velocity (hope that's the reason for this, tho). However, using this kind of apps and actually seeing some improvement depends completely on oneself, as there is no one teaching you, so you need some discipline to keep up!

I paid for premium and find it very enjoyable. There are several great things : -you can add up to 5 people under your account. So if you have a family member or a friend who would like to learn foreign language then they can do so without extra fee. -you can switch languages if you wish. Many other apps offer only specific language, even with premium account. With Mondly you can learn each week a different language if you wish which is nice. Especially seen that premium gives you pretty much life long membership. -it is not as expensive as other apps. Which is nice. Also I enjoy daily lessons. I wish though that lessons would be slightly longer. Although when there are verbs, app gives you possibility to see all forms of the verb, so it's nice. Have not had any problems so far

This is a fantastic app. The presentation is very modern, easily accessible and actually helps with great memorization techniques. Plus they teach an incredible amount of languages including the very difficult Semitic languages.

It is very good, anyone who can read should be able to use this with ease. I'm pretty good at identifying nouns and pronoun words in foreign languages but I think and this app teaches you the verbs very well. If you can learn the verb usage in most languages you're well on your way! I can't wait to converse in German!
