Quality Reads, Great Selection After 3 years of driving 1500 miles at a time, I got burnt out on music. All of it. A friend suggested I try "books on tape" and so I went searching for a good program. Audiobooks has quality reads, and any issue that has arisen has been promptly addressed by their staff. Although they do not have every book I wish to own, they have a great selection, and I am happy with my subscription.
Meh It's not my favorite but it is alright. I prefer another audio book service but this one is not bad. I don't like that apparently I have to go onto the website to do any purchases. I am also not keen at all that there seems to be only a one credit plan. I prefer to pay a little more per month and be able to get multiple credits. The free books are a nice addition but those are available on yet another service which may be a sister to this product. All in all I may seek other options.
The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Clay By Michael Chabon, a book about two kids from very different worlds and their bond, deeply descriptive and so fun, a wonderful book to listen to! I had been wanting to read this book but was a bit daunted by the size and length. When I had the idea to find it on audio I was so excited and the prospect of reading many other books I've been meaning open up! I'm excited with this new tool to help me increase my internal library. Great app, great selection, super easy to use!
It was a bit disappointing... I thought that it would be nice to try out at first, but the "free" trial ended up taking $15 off of my card. I haven't heard anything back about it, so I assume that it's just going to stay that way. To be fair though, they do have good recordings for a good selection of books. If my experience has been a bit different, I would have probably enjoyed this app.
Pretty Sweet I find this app to be pretty handy. I really like this feature that rewinds by 30 seconds... much more useful than the skipping back aimlessly with my thumbs, which makes it impossible to be precise. It always starts right back up where I left off so there's also no guessing about the exact time.
Great app, very easy to use, smooth navigation. I particularly like the fact that the I can access the app even when my phone is locked (which for some reason I can't do with the Audible app - very frustrating). Good selection of books, and competitive prices. I listened to Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, which was a fantastic read on an important topic (slavery and its consequences across the generations, both in America and Africa). I was captivated from beggining to end of this novel. I later found out the author was only 26 years old and that this was her first published novel. The narration for the audiobook was top notch, with subtle variations in accent and tone according to whether the story took place in Africa or in the United States. This really enhanced the listening experience.
