Unbelievably bloated and intrusive... ... but I've bought a load of maps for it now so unlikely to uninstall. Would be great if they brought out a less resourse intensive "lite version" for people who just want to know where they are without having loads of menus and trendy social media "lifestyle" twattery. How about dealing with simple issues, e.g. the zoom buttons being near invisible in some sections of OS map? Nah, lets add in some "augmented reality" bs instead
Brilliant I have use this regularly for several years for cross country cycling. While I would continue to recommend it, I do find more recent updates less intuitive and I'm often wasting time trying to figure out how to do basic tasks like find routes or change maps.
My go to off road nav software In many ways, Viewranger is easier to use than Garmin software, especially Basecamp! I use it for navigating green lanes and trail riding and love the fact I can use a 7" tablet which is great with old eyes and checking a route quickly before a turn... :-) As others have said, you can find yourself spending a lot of money on maps, but they are good quality and clear to read. Not all the competition is... There is too much and unnecessary social media creeping in, and I agree, a VR lite would be good.
Best outdoor app New skyline feature is great for seeing what's around you. Navigation is easy and there's plenty of routes to share and download. Been using this app for about five years I think! Nothing has replaced it.
Top job Very good app.... does all i want Rubbish new icon though
Great tool This app is surprisingly accurate compared to others. It went fine on my old S5 and it's working great on my S7. Picks up your location in under a minute even under a reasonably deep canopy. Love it

Skyline helps you navigate too. See waypoints and follow direction arrows for routes on the real landscape. (Note: No Skyline coverage in Alaska)
- A new Map Options panel.
- New waypoint icons for POI's and Waypoints.
