It's fine 5/7 not backwards compatible with 1986 B2000. I can't believe they didn't make a way to connect this with a 30 year old truck. /s But aside from that glaring flaw it was easy to set up on my more modern car.
I have not found this device to be useful for anything except beeping at me when I do not drive like a grandmother. It will not allow me to turn off my Bluetooth when I'm not using the device. I might be at home in bed I turn off my Bluetooth and automatic turns it right back on. This is resulting in unnecessary battery usage. While this device has been in use I have had engine malfunctions and it has never alerted me to any or with any diagnostic codes. I do not believe that it can actually read any diagnostic codes. I think this is hype and misinformation presented in advertisements for this device. Many cars already have services built into them that provide many of the applications presented by this device. OnStar is one such example. I am quite disappointed in this device. If there is some use that I have not found for it I would wish that the creators or manufacturers of it would please contact me and let me know what I can do with it.
Idk if it's good for a bmw. I got a message when pairing it to my bmw and it said that fuel would be disabled bcuz it doesn't support bmw. Also I've had error codes but Automatic doesn't see them but other obd2 devices will them. Maybe it only displays major problems.
PITA to pair I have had 2 phones a moto x and moto z. Both were difficult to pair. With the moto z I had to repair after replacing phone. Now it won't pair at all. Interferes with OnStar diagnostics, give very little info in app. Not worth it. Junk.
Not so "Automatic" With the recent update the app which controls the Bluetooth has put a very significant drain on my Galaxy S5. The only remedy is to disable the app, which causes another click of "are you sure", followed by another input of turning off the Bluetooth. Of course this needs to be done every time one starts and stops driving. I emailed the company to advise them of their glitch and they replied with a fix which duplicates the above. The above is not a fix, it's a work around for a problem.
Meh The only real use for this? When the squirrels crawl up under the hood and gnaw through your cables it can tell you what the check engine light is complaining about…if you're lucky and it actually works. Also, the bloody software is constantly turning on Bluetooth, whether I want it on or not. Go spend your money on movie tickets or new shoes, you'll get more out of it.
Just a tiny bug fix release to remove buttons to buy the 2nd generation adapter.
