Ratings and reviews

Course is much better than Duolingo - it's way more useful for beginners who actually want to use the language. The lessons are structured like a traditional textbook. The main complaint is voice recognition. It sucks. Short words are incredibly difficult. Longer phrases are really lax - I have knowingly stumbled on a word and still gotten a pass. There is no feedback. If it rejects you, you have to guess why. Very frustrating! Thankfully, you can disable the speaking parts.

Been using this for about a month now, it's nice but if you're like me and didn't pay attention in English class and can't remember the difference between adverbs, verbs, conjunctions, pronouns ect., then like me you're going to be looking up the difference while trying to learn. Unit 9 lesson 3 for example, masculine or feminine pronunciation? No hints or explanations, just pick one cause you have a 50/50 chance of getting it if you're not 100%familiar, that stuffs irritating but overall good.

Best learning platform, hands down! Nothing comes even close to it, especially not the "freemium" apps that throw hundreds of ads at you. I find Babbel's price acceptable for what it offers, it got me up to speed with my language learning. The only feedback I have is to maybe add more complex writing exercises (or longer). But then again, one should not rely on just one app when learning a new language :)
