Gorgeous The application looks great, does everything I would expect from a bank on my android, and is super responsive. Absolutely cannot go back to a banking world without Simple.
They have assisted me with a few issues I've had, they always reply back to my emails within a few hours, they listen to my concerns and have the solutions I need. They are friendly and courteous, knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend them.
The BBVA switch has been a nightmare for most people. It went alright for me (US citizen) but outright closing people's accounts because of different policies between BBVA and Bancorp is ridiculous. Removing the accounts of green card holders for example is unacceptable. So now due to different policies, people are out of accounts that they rely on for paychecks and paying bills. Completely unprofessional. Not to mention what opening a new account does to one's FICO and credit report in general. BBVA is also extremely shady and has investments in projects like the Dakota Access Pipeline. It's a little scary keeping money in a company that can just decide to make a move like this and screw customers over in the process, and is now owned and partnered by a bank that's equally as shady as Bank of America.
Seems that I'm unable to transition with them to their new partner bank. Oh well! Was nice while it lasted. Nice little app :)
Great bank, but let me ask a question. If I have $100 saved in a goal, and I take away $100, do I still have $100 left in the goal? No. Then why show that I have $100 saved? It's a silly feature that I don't understand and annoys me. Atleast give us the option to keep it how it was. Poor UX design. Edit: that you for the reply JD. Anyway we can atleast get the option to use the old way back? Maybe a settings option? I make Android apps myself, shouldn't be hard. Hope the simple team can find time to add this small feature.
UPDATE: My account has been reactivated, after several calls. PRIOR REVIEW: Prior to Simple's bank change from Bancorp to BBVA Compass the only trouble I had was their lack of support for multiple cards for the same account (not a big deal). At the end of December I completed the transition between Simple's partner banks. I had a successful direct deposit, previous balance was moved over, activated the new debit card, and even made a couple purchases. However, since early January by account has been frozen with no ETR. I was not notified that my account was frozen until the 17th of January, both the app and website show my card as active. A direct deposit from two weeks ago has disappeared, my paystub shows it was sent to the correct Simple account (like the previous deposit) but Simple states they never received it (could be because my account was frozen without my knowledge). As it stands now I have a card I can't use, an account that is frozen indefinitely, and a missing deposit. Needless to say this is unacceptable.
Overall I have enjoyed using this card/app. Made the transition to BBVA without any problems. Even got the shared account for me and my hubby. Only 1 quesion, will access to the shared account be incorporated into the app or will managing that account be limited to being doing on a desktop computer?
This update supports an enhancement of our 2-Factor Authentication feature (2FA, for short) for added protection when you sign in to your account. We’ll be slowly rolling this out over time, so you may not notice any changes, right away. If you do, enjoy!
Hear that noise? It’s the sweet sound of security, doubled.
