Beamdog did a really good job of porting this game from the past into the future. Some of the additional settings and gameplay aids make it a lot better than it was originally. Really solid work. 4 stars for that. But, in hindsight, this is an example of how terribly D&D rules translate into CRPGs. Lots of useless spells and items. Stupid character progression at high levels (a million XP for +1 THAC0 and 1 HP?). The magic system is terrible for real-time combat. It hasn't aged well.

Really great game and adaptation. As I've gotten older and started replaying the old RPGs I played as a kid in the 90s, this one has come out as my favorite, and I played them all. The key factor in this is being able to full customize your entire party from the very beginning. That factor alone gives me endless replayability not just through the sheer mechanics of designing different combinations of cohesive and supporting skills and classes, but also in terms of theme and RP.

Playing this on a Samsung Chromebook Pro with only an issue specific to my set up. By itself the game plays great on the Chromebook in tablet or normal mode. However, I was expecting to be able to play this game using an external mouse/keyboard/monitor. The games GUI will break upon startup when using the external monitor, making it unplayable. Other than this issue, the game is great.
