We have used it for about a year now and we have liked it from that beginning. For us and our 10 to 20 hive, checking for mites has been made so much easier and simple to do. I have been recommending it to other beekeepers, especially newbies who are nervous about doing the sugar roll or other methods. It's another great tool to have in this ever changing world of beekeeping. Thank you for your work and this app serving beekeepers.

Thats great news Stephen. We are happy to tell you we are working hard to improve it. Both the performance with the AI and how the app UX is designed will be greatly boosted in coming versions coming this fall.

This app is amazing!!! I have found that if you follow the instructions, it gives results that correlate well with alcohol washes done on the same frames. For example, for my two hives, I got 3.6% / 3.2%, and 2.6% / 1.6% for alcohol wash/ Beescanning app respectively. It's essential to supply it with good quality photos, so I take them with my camera app first (Pixel 3) then upload to Beescanning. I lower treatment thresholds, and love that I don't have to sacrifice bees!!!!

Hi Nathan Im really happy you have such good experience. I agree on all points and feel safe when I have examined a colony. It is awesome what AI can do. We soon launch finding dwv and brood disorders and I anticipate this will be a very valuable tool monitoring colony health.

In theory this app makes sense but it reality it's only as good as your photo. I don't know if you should upload 10 different photos or 2 of 2 frames or 2 of the same frame. It says 0% or low percentage but then I had a hive crash so I cannot trust this as the sole count tool. I think I will have to testt it against bottom board counts to figure out best practices for photo submissions etc. It would be good to also be able to date your photos when they were taken and not when you upload them.

You are absolutely right the image quality is very important. When it comes to number of images it is actually how many bees there are that matters. We recommend about 3 000 bees to detect even a low infestation. If you have good footage and enough bees the AI is rather accurate. Thanks for your input.

What's new

We're releasing a brand new android app version, this will help with some stability issues and other fun things. Sadly there are limitations in the store that prevents a seamless transition between products.

The new product is released in tandem with this release to facilitate the product switchover.
