Incredible that an organisation can be so deluded. Putting aside any of the usability issues like having to scan codes, login, etc, it is baffling that a bank like B&A thinks this would ever be anything other than a huge flop. The reason? Merchants require their own terminal. May be viable for people who live in Bendigo (even then probably not), but for the real world how are they ever going to get any penetration with merchants. Just wow.
Not enough retailers for me use it Forget Samsung and their tablets (love my Samsung phone), enable nfc and this will be great.
Love it Super fast at time of payment and so easy to navigate. Can't wait for this to take off so I can use it more! Also, in true Bendigo style, having the ability to put back into my community or chosen cause, brilliant.
Great concept Love the use of qr codes over NFC. You don't negotiate with the retailer with payment, you do that with the bank.
Disappointed Was hoping Bendigo would jump on board with NFC, and stick with a standard. Instead redy can only be used at a small number of terminals. QR is becoming a thing of the past very quickly, but everyone else is adopting RFID. Maybe I should go to a bank that does offer NFC?
Poor decision over NFC There was a reason the Payment Card Industry rolled out NFC cards to work with NFC terminals. The PCI has the ability to manipulate the market/industry on a much larger scale than a bank can. Why Samsung Australia and Bendigo/Adelaide Bank thought it was a great idea to try and enforce a different payment solution does not make sense to me other than the profit involved. Not only does a merchant pay a % for the use of this solution in their business, but they also have to purchase another terminal/tablet to allow customers to pay using Redy, even though over 90% of retail stores have an active NFC terminal/pinpad already. I do not see many businesses opting for this type of a solution at their cost, to support a very small number of consumers who will choose to use this solution, instead of the conventional systems that are being used world-wide! When chances are the consumer already has an NFC active card on hand This app/solution needs to offer a lot more to be made worth while, especially with the likes of CBA, Mastercard and Visa as their competitors. I am predicting we will only see this in small independent stores, as it seems to be at the moment. PCI is well established
