Generally helpful But doesn't give individual recommendations, just tells you if an app might be low, medium, or high risk. Clueful should not flag a weather app because it wants to know your location, but it should give a red alert if a flashlight app wants access to your contacts and accounts; Clueful does neither of these. It just gives a generic warning in each case.
Recommended Really great app which picked up threats I hadn't spotted (and I'm pretty careful). Led me to uninstall 2 apps and avoid another. Excellent service to protect your privacy from unscrupulous developers!
Everything is a threat Frist it is a helpful tool to identify potential risks. Hoever it seems to pick up everyone and it's mother as a threat. The app checks programs permissions data to identify security holes. However certain apps that are identified as threats are from reputable competitors. I'm not sure if the program is comparing the actual data in live situations or only taking the permissions for face value. Again the tool is helpful however when you install a security app you should know it's there.
MY JURY'S OUT. SO FAR, A KEEPER. Very useful as *one factor* in judging an app's overall security, providing food for thought. BUT I also find it alarmist and hyper-vigilant... to the point of creating paranoia. For me, it'll stay on as a security tool to be used with caution, not the be all and end all. (Why is it suspicious for a weather app to ask for permission to access location? Or for a photo editor to access photos/media/files? How else can they function?) Erring on the side of caution is not a bad thing though. Well done overall.
Like it Found 1 app (say no to 0870) to be dodgey and lots of other medium threats.
