About this app

Deadbolt Password Generator is a companion app for the Chrome extension of the same name.

Created to combat the problem of having a different and unique password for every site, Deadbolt operates by applying a simple algorithm to a word or phrase, in order to derive the same strong password each time you enter it.

Unlike similar solutions, Deadbolt does not randomly generate the passwords requiring you to save them somewhere else, nor does it store any passwords or personal information. The only way to generate your password is to enter the same phrase again, meaning the only person with the key to generating your passwords is you.

Deadbolt is available to view on GitHub - please track any issues or feedback here:

Permissions Required:

INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE:
Deadbolt is based on the Crosswalk Browser - a webview for enhanced compatibility that requires these permissions.

WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Profiles are stored in your device's memory.

CAMERA, FLASHLIGHT
Profiles can be imported from the Chrome extension - this is achieved by scanning a QR code which requires the use of the camera and flash.

This app is totally amazing! Totally worth downloading and using. This what you do... 1. Get yourself a little black book 2. Download this app 3. Write down the website or app login 4. Write down the phrase for that app or website 5. Get generated password from Deadbolt using the phrase. 6. Copy the password 7. Paste password in the appropriate place and last but not least... Set up the auto login to fill in your credentials And do not write down the generated passwords

The best way to create and remember passwords. Just right down the phrase you used or applock this app and keep the phrase in a text file.

It used to be good but it hasn't been updated in years. Mine is now useless, as it crashes when I try to open it.
