This is a very early release of the Happier Android app.
It's definitely not yet mature nor stable, but if you want a sneak peek at what we're planning, please help us by downloading it and testing it out.
Messages will be displayed at convenient times that you set, where you then focus on the meaning of the message for twenty seconds. During this time, you pause what you're doing, come back to your body, possibly close your eyes, and enjoy the connection with things you deeply care about. When the twenty seconds are up your phone will vibrate to gently indicate that you're done.
Studies in happiness show we have a large negativity bias. It generally takes about 20 seconds of continuous focus on a good experience to make a lasting impact on our mood. If you keep up this practice, over time you will see your overall mood increase and gravitate towards becoming a more positive and happy person.
The app keeps track of how many times you and other people have enjoyed the messages. You can see how your friends and others are also sticking with it and encourage them on the social leader board.
I developed this for my own personal use and I want to freely share the benefits I've received with everyone else. No registration is needed, and there will never be advertisements.

The app works by training people to "focus on the positive" (and equally important "not to focus on the negative") which in turn changes the cognitive process of your mind, leading you to be drawn to positive outcomes. Even the apparently innocuous selection of a happy face in a crowd of neutral/anxious faces will have a lasting and significant effect on the mind.
Three simple steps to improving happiness, positive outlook, and removing anxiety,- fire up the app and
1. In the training section of the app, select the one happy face from the sea of unhappy faces
2. Keep doing this until your time is up (it takes about a minute each time) and you will then be given a "score"
3. Check your progress at the progress page to see what progress you have made- and now check the calendar to see the "Seinfeld calendar" effect of tracking your usage.
Note (Feb 19th '14): check the built in "Seinfeld calendar" to see your past training days!
The core activity for you is to complete the app training daily. This can be done whenever you get a free minute – on a train or bus or at any quite moment during the day. After a while the app will tell you to move to a more advanced level (to keep you improving and to reinforce your previous learning [altering your cognitive bias]).
