It's ok I really like that Piper cameras and the ability to integrate with my deadbolts and door sensors. The app however will not connect to Piper if my phone is on a cell network. If it's connected to any wifi, home or away, it has no problems. Please fix the app so I can arm/disarm the system when I'm not near wifi.
More Trouble than it is worth Just checked sensors, none of them work! Do not buy Piper! Samsung phone now works, for the most part. Stand alone extender now works. I can not get extender to work and also other devices. Came home and none of the inputs would work. None of the door switches and motion detectors would work. The zwave network only works for 1 or 2 days at a time. Z-Wave is a piece of crap. Doesn't work with Samsung phone. Samsung phone messes up the entire Z wave network so that it will not. work
Very poor UI Ridiculous "preview" feature serves no function what so ever and prevents being able to access any controls when in landscape mode. This preview feature causes the app to hang and frequently "trip" over itself and not even be able to connect to your network or causes a prolonged delay. It won't connect so I can disarm it to enter my home, but easily sends me instant messages that "motion is detected" because I gave up waiting for it to connect before entering the house.
Great Home Security Great system. Does what it says, easy to use.
Unreliable This device has the potential to be a great little home controller. However the Piper Mobile app it is highly unreliable. The Piper team needs to work better at making sure the communication between the controller and remote sensors/devices is much more reliable and the ability for the app and the controller to talk to each other more reliably. If this isn't fixed soon I'll have no choice but to move to a new controller.
Everything I use has been great. My only complaint would be the need/want to change the city I live in to be able to see the current temperature and alerts. It has always been stuck on Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I've tried everything customer support had told me to. An option to simply change it myself would be nice. Still no word on location change after multiple attempts to customer service and rebooting.
