The ABC Reading Eggs Learn to Read app features hundreds of fun maths, reading, spelling and alphabet games, along with phonics activities, word puzzles and over 3000 e-books for homeschooling Eggsplorers to enjoy!
The app instructs homeschoolers on the five essential components of reading – phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
The ABC Reading Eggs homeschool guide covers years K-5 and also includes science and social studies.

Ratings and reviews

Volume control is bad. My experience is mostly with the Reading Eggs lessons. The audio at the end of each lesson that says "Well done!" or "Congratulations" is really loud, but the audio for the actual lesson is very low. And for some lessons, we can't listen to the question again! It's really frustrating for small kids. Otherwise, the lessons themselves are well planned and designed. If audio issues were fixed, it would be so much better.

Maybe this style works for a particular kind of kid but it is so repetitive and monotonous that my kid was turned off immediately. And if you try to skip lessons because they're too easy, your kid is going to encounter tasks that refer to stories or things they "read before" that can turn frustrating and disappointing. Try this if you're starting at 0 but not if your kid has some reading knowledge already. UPD: Yes, we did the placement test. Over 30 minutes into the test, my 5yo lost interest.

My two year old enjoyed playing the games on the app. For the games where he had to pick the correct letter or number he would purposely choose the wrong one because he thought the sound it made was funny, so that was a little frustrating. The app would also regularly glitch. It would freeze in the middle of the game, play the sound for the next activity, but only show the background, and was generally glitchy. The app was installed on a "compatible device" so it was rather annoying.
