Recently, my experience with them has been unfavorable, having booked a room for a birthday getaway only to be informed upon arrival that there was no room available due to the reservation being canceled on the same day it was made, 6 weeks prior, without any notification. I was subsequently instructed to book an alternative room with the assurance of a full refund for the entire stay due to their error. However, they are now claiming that was not what was said even with a recorded conversation.

Terrible Customer Service. I mistakenly made a one night stay at two hotels and immediately corrected the error. Booking instead rescheduled the wrong one (for a fee). Attempting to contact Booking, I was unable and could only contact the property via message. All communications were messed up. I couldn’t make the change by calling the hotel because it came through a third party. This is ridiculous and I will not use this app anymore. (They were OK years ago. What happened?)

Booking doesn't allow contacting the property directly to confirm that they actually provide an invoice (for business travelers). The issue here is that booking explicitly asks you whether you are traveling for business, and whether you need an invoice. Except afterwards they leave you to hash out the invoice with the property which might or might not give you one. This makes booking not suitable for business travel. I've had a recent issue with this and recommend bookings directly with hotels.
