Booky Call is a revolutionary book discovery app disguised as a dating app. By combining the psychology and functionality of dating apps with a creative book review in the form of a "humanized" dating profile, we help readers swipe right and engage with books in an innovative way.

Each book review crafted by our staff of writers reveals answers to questions such as:
- Who should swipe right on me?
- What are my most attractive traits?
- What is the dorkiest thing about me?
- What is my most inspirational quote?
- What is my best one-liner?
- What do I spend a lot of time thinking about?
- What will we eat/drink on our first date?
- Tell me about your book daddy/mama.
- What celebrity would sound best reading my audio version?

Each review also contains a short clip of the audio book (if available) to help you make your decision of whether or not to take the book on a "date."

Users can swipe right on books they are interested in and send the book to your Direct Messages to further engage with the book. You are then given the opportunity to purchase the physical, digital or audio version of the book.

Enable your notifications and receive custom "Booky Calls" twice a week with up to three hand-selected books looking for a "book-up" based on your personal profile preferences.

Ratings and reviews

Such a cool concept. I downloaded, swiped a few times & ended up ordering a book rec off Amazon. The app itself however is having bug issues(at least for me on my android). Their tap to continue pages, browse & messages tabs freeze and I have to close & reopen. Once the bug is fixed I'm sure the app will run smoother. Despite the bugs I've already recommended the app to others.

I really loved the idea of this app. However, it was incredibly slow and interfered with my phone audio. The day I downloaded it my phone audio stopped working. I nearly missed getting up for work as my alarm went off without sound, text sounds stopped working and I couldn't listen to Spotify! At first I thought it was a fault in my phone but after research there were recommendations saying it could be caused by an app. I deleted this app and now my phone is perfect again and the sound is back

I like the idea of this app. It mostly worked for me. The selection just seems really limited. The books it offers are either classics or independent writers. It couldn't find a single popular young adult novel I searched for. Until there is a larger selection of books I'll be looking elsewhere.

What's new

The new My Shelf feature now includes the option of deleting book dates from your To Be Read (TBR) shelf as well as your Read shelf. Time to clean out your TBR shelf and right swipe on new dates waiting for you.
