About this app

Finding Your Voice, Knowing Your Rights was created by The School of Global Access at Bow Valley College. The School of Global Access is focused on newcomer settlement through language classes, skills development, career placement, and research.

This app is for young newcomer workers in Alberta, yet many others will find it useful. You will find information on how to experience safe and fair workplaces. This includes information and resources related to Occupational Health and Safety and Employment Standards in Alberta. This app will not ask for any information or store any of your data.

Finding Your Voice, Knowing Your Rights features include:

Know Your Rights: Find out what laws make Alberta workplaces safe. Learn about laws related to Alberta workplaces, which include the Occupational and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Code, and the Alberta Human Rights Act.

Find Your Voice: Go through three workplace examples to learn about safety at work. This includes training, workplace discrimination, and injuries at work.

Glossary: learn what words mean by clicking on a highlighted term or using the glossary. This includes definitions and pronunciation.
