About this app

The FireQ app is one part of a two-part solution for firefighters that helps to manage emergency incidents and the fire department. It provides firefighters with critical information before, during and after an emergency.
At the outset of an emergency, firefighters receive emergency alerts by phone call, true-type text message, push notification, in app and/or email. Moreover, they can respond via the same communication channels with “respond to station’, “respond to scene”, “no” or “on hold”.
An incident timer shows firefighters a timer since the incident was paged and a responders list that tells firefighters who is coming and when they will arrive are visible from the app.
Firefighters can also use the app to send a “stand down’ message.
Firefighters have access to multiple self-dispatch options from the FireQ app. Additionally, during an emergency, they can use the app to re-page the incident and to update incident details. Firefighters who arrive first on the scene can use the “Use My Location Feature” to send location coordinates to firefighters who may still be en route.
Incident commanders can use the FireQ app to capture critical information from the fireground. These benchmarks are customizable and can be used to capture time, date, and location information for such things as arrival on scene, initial size-up, air team entry and wetting agent application. Benchmarks captured from the scene are automatically included in an incident report.
The FireQ app also provides firefighters with critical information that will assist with their response. A colour-coded responders list details who is responding, when they will arrive, and firefighter qualifications. They can access any existing safety plans for building or locations near the location of the emergency.
Mapping tools within the FireQ app provide firefighters with driving directions to the emergency; mapped locations of assets and hazards; and access to safety preplans.
The FireQ Hub is a place to store external links that are helpful to a firefighter.

Firefighters can also use the FireQ app to:
- Mark themselves off-duty.
- Check operational strength numbers.
- Check service status of apparatus.
- Review recent incident history.
- Direct message other firefighters, groups of firefighters, or the entire fire department.
- Post electronic bulletins for all members of the fire department.
- Review their participation hours in the fire department. These participation hours can include emergency response, training, and fire department activity hours.
- Mark themselves off-duty and set a return-to-duty date.
- See a list of firefighters who are currently off-duty.
- Schedule outgoing messages.
