The app works, but the hardware it controls is the real issue. My Joule unit stopped heating completely while still circulating water. Support confirmed the product is non-repairable and no service options are available once it’s out of warranty. The only solution offered was a discount to purchase another unit. An app-controlled device with no repair path if the hardware fails is a major concern. I would not recommend this system based on that experience.

app sucks.... I want to quickly use it as a guide to set the temperature for the desired doneness for my meat of choice. This usually doesn't provide that information and tries to sell you their products. it provides lots of recipes. It replaced the" Joule " app that did exactly what I wanted. The updates and improvements make it to annoying for me to continue using....

Can't even create an account. I'm an early adopter of the Joule, back when it was chefsteps. since then the app has gone down hill and with the switch to Breville, it's apparent that they care less and less for maintaining customer and want people to keep buying the same product relabeled as an "upgrade". They are switching to their new app in 2026 and forcing Joule users to switch. I am not able to create an account and the troubleshooting website doesn't list this as a common issue.
