The app as an additional multiscreen around the home is brilliant, however this clearly has come with a sacrifice. When I was on the old Sky+ setup you was able to control the STB from the phone app which was a very very useful feature. Why sky have not included such a feature on the new sky q service is mind blowing. This is a case of two steps forward, one step back.
This app works fine at home where it can find my sky q box. I can download movies to watch when away from home. Great. BUT...... as soon as I try and open the app away from home to watch the movies I get a technical fault error and I can't even log into the app. Kind of defeats the object of being able to watch away from home. This happens whether I have a WiFi or 4g connection away from home. I thought the whole idea was it didn't even matter if I was completely offline.
Good App An all round very good app. The only reason for the 4 stars is because the app uses your internal storage when downloading to your phone, with no option to change it to SD card. I have 30 odd gig free on my memory card and about 2 gig internal so quite annoying I can't change it
Numpty comments Ignore all the comments having a moan about the app being broken since the last update. It works fine. You have to authorise the app again on your Sky Q box before it works. Don't update the app until your at home if that's an issue.
How often does the app need to register with the STB? Every time I come to use this while I'm away from home it's non-functional because it needs to be connected to the Sky Q box. At least give me the option to sign in with my Sky ID as a backup so I don't have to wait a week to use it again.
Just upgraded to Sky Q and tried to use this app for the first time. Here's my review. Pointless, you can't view anything unless your a multi room subscriber, which to me is rediculous as even bloody Netflix lets me view on different devices. No wonder people are using Kodi or Netflix instead. If you use Sky Go that works fine, so why not Sky Q app. Absolutely Rubbish.
