Fun, intuitive but requires HUGE leaps Example: I was given the (Japanese) word "tomodachi" (friend), then the phrase "He is my friend." That was logical. But the very next step was "I still socialize with friends from my previous job". Umm, what?? Also, it switches between hiragana to kanji without introducing you to the kanji. This would be fine - great, even! - except it's done when introducing new words that they then quiz you on the comprehension of. Also, the native speakers are way too fast with no option to switch to a slower speed.
Edit: Good but overly faulty Contacted support months ago. Was told the bugs are being looked into. The app has been updated twice since. Game ruining issue still remains. I'm done. The app is a solid learning experience but if you can't complete the first few exercises then what's the point?
Frustrating and disappointing Installed it, connected though my gmail, and behold my language is set to learn English as default. Being an extremely intelligent money-sucking app, it doesn't give the option of changing a language, only add a new language for money option. Logged out, hot get started, chose my language of interest, then logged in and it's the Dane story
Japanese lessons could use some work Been studying Japanese for years starting in high school. There are new things to learn even at the lowest level of this app. I would like to see grammar things in there like there is for the Spanish lessons. Once I got deeper into the Japanese lessons I began to notice the multiple choice sections were beginning to fall off. When there are three options, often two would be the same answer. It could be refined.
Error Still error on drag and drop activity/test. Right ones chosen but appears as all wrong every time. Can not get it scored correctly. Extremely frustrating.
It's a decent learning app. I'm using this app to learn German. So far it is effective but has some lesson flow issues in beginner lesson 4. One issue was asking me to put words in a sentence when those words had not yet been taught. Another was to drag word boxes to their correct meaning but the boxes were empty, so this was impossible. As long as errors like this are marginal, I'd say the software is worth investing your time and money in.
We have massively improved "My Vocabulary" so you can now see the strength of each word and practice weak ones.
See that little health bar on each word? It represents the “strength” level of the word, figured out by our algorithm. Every time you review a word using our Vocabulary Trainer, its strength level will increase.
Simply tap the button at the bottom of the screen and choose which set of words you’d like to train. If you enjoy busuu, please leave a nice review on the store.
