About this app

ButterflyMX allows you to open and manage doors & gates from your smartphone. Once our video intercom, keypad, elevator controls, package room, or key locker have been installed at your property, downloading this app will provide you with features such as video calling, virtual keys, delivery PINs, remote access, and much more - all designed to make property access simple for staff, residents, visitors, and deliveries. What’s more, all entries are recorded with a date- and time-stamped photo available for review in both the mobile app and on the property management dashboard.

I don't think I could recommend a more inconsistent program for something as simple as opening a gate in my life. Some days it works fine, albeit slow. Other days it won't even load. As others have mentioned, the need to swipe across your screen to open the gate is unintuitive, especially when driving. Even mild rain brings the system offline for days to weeks, and here in Florida, rain is constant - it's genuinely been down more than it's been up. If you have to use this app - buy some aspirin.

It's an app to open your door.... which very rarely actually responds in time to open the door. Frequently shows a blank screen, and is slow to get to necessary swipe screen. Hate having to pull out a phone to get in when carrying groceries, in the rain, etc. The touchpad intercoms themselves also have a horrible response time, overheat in summer and cannot withstand rain in winter.

"upgrading" my apartment building's intercom to Butterfly is the worst decision our building management has made. Sometimes there is a lag of a minute between when someone buzzes and the app notifies us. It seems to arbitrarily choose whether I get an app notification or a phonecall, and if it's the latter, I still have to open the app to buzz someone in. There is no way have the notifications default to one occupant's phone over another (e.g. because one works outside the home). I hate it.
