Plasma Sound is the most fully-featured and 100% free music instrument on the Android Marketplace!
Beautiful music instrument inspired by the Theremin, Continuum, Keyboard and Sequencer. Touch the screen and a note is generated. It's X-Axis (left-to-right) is pitch, which is designated by note and octave markings. It's Y-Axis (up-and-down) is up to you to control! Plasma Sound is incredibly configurable. Pick the note range, the waveform, cutoff, delay, tremolo, vibrato and more! You can even select between continuous mode (theremin-like), quantize mode (keyboard-like), and a hybrid.
Plasma Sound applies the same principals to the Sequencer to give you even more music creation abilities! Select a note to activate it, and drag up and down to select it's Y-value, controlling the same thing that the Y-Axis controls in the Keyboard section. Immediately you get an incredibly dynamic and versatile sequencer.
On Android 3.0 tablets and up, a new beta feature has been added: The ability to create and play sequences using the front-facing camera. Select the "Motion" tab to try it out!

This app is known to have problems with older/lower end phones. The original Droid is known to work (just barely), but phones with lower specs will most likely run in to problems. Please don't leave a bad comment if your phone doesn't work; it's an intense app, intended for tablets (although an honest effort is put in to supporting older phones, I promise).
The beautiful visual based off of MSAFluid, and the sound is generated by libpd.

Please let me know of any bugs or errors you encounter! In addition, if you have any feature requests, let me know. Feel free to email me or post on the XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17498254 This is my instrument for my band, Shy Guy Says, http://shyguysays.com (check us out!), so I'm incredibly concerned about stability and ease of use!

Within moments of booting up, it's possible to generate an abstract, ambient, or idm loop. The sound mixes perfectly in open air with a Buddha Machine or sx150 synth, for example.
INSTRUCTIONS: (1) hit "add sound" (2) randomize the sound's color and sequence to your liking (3) hit the radar to return to the black screen & add more sounds (4) hit the color blocks to play a sound and return to it's controls for further modification.
BACKGROUND: Sounds are randomized with DrPetter's SFXR ... "an MS Paint for sound effects." Sequences are randomized using Toussaint's concept of generating traditional world music beats via the Euclidean Algorithm, which "reveals a tantalizing pattern."
DONT ERG AND DRIVE, SIP SLOW, PEasE !~
2 Oscillators, 1 LFO , 3 Envelopes, LP/HP Filter, OscillatorSync, Cross-Modulation and more.
All sound making process was written by native code. If on a Google Nexus device, you can expect low latency quick response.
Variaty of sounds can be created and even changed real time while you are playing using the setting of the 3 oscillators of the syntesizer.
Sonic Synthesizer features:
- 3 oscillators
- 3 wave form types for every oscillator
- volume, modulation, tone and detune for every oscillator
- envelope filters (attack sustain release)
- fast and usable piano keyboard
The synthesizer app is even more powerful than most analog synths.
You can now use your phone as a recording instrument for your new studio song record.
The app is new so if have any suggestions write them :)
There is also experimental USB MIDI keyboard support, for devices that support USB host mode.
This project was featured in the Google I/O 2013 talk, "High Performance Audio for Android", as an example of how to accomplish low latency, reliable audio playback.
Users are able to play custom synthesizers using the x-y axes of the touchscreen. The x-axis corresponds to amplitude (volume) and the y-axis corresponds to frequency (pitch). Playback can also be looped, recorded, and EQed using a Parametric EQ.
On top of performing, Users are able to create their own custom synthesizers, which consist of a custom timbre and user-defined effects. A small variety of timbres are included: Sine, Square, Saw, Pulse, Noise (white)*, Theremin, "Singing Saw", "Electric Eel", and "Starslide." These, as well as any user-created synths, can be mixed and matched at different harmonics, amplitudes, and phases to create custom sounds.
Each synth has customizable fx parameters as well, including Envelope (ADSR - attack & release), LFO (rate & depth), Delay (rate & decay), and Note Lag.
-Choose scale: Pentatonic, Major, Minor, Blues, or Chromatic
-Choose the base note for the pad.
-Control the grid size.
-Record to the SD card.
-Toggle visualizations. More to come here.
*I fully intend to make noise scale with frequency and actually become useful (e.g. "Red" Noise).
- SD card access: for saving instruments and recordings.
- Vibration: For haptic feedback.

Droiditar is an expressive multi-touch string based instrument. Similar to the Chapman Stick or Warr Guitar, it allows you to tap and play it like a piano, but its three strings can be bent dynamically. Using advanced physical synthesis methods the strings are modelled to respond naturally to interactions, and no samples are used. This also allows a continuous variation of timbre.
Droiditar can easily be constrained to any of a large number of keys and scales, for ease of use.
Press the string terminators to activate sustained mode! In this mode the strings are excited continuously allowing the creation of drones, leads and other sounds.
Droiditar's possibilities are endless when you plug it into your guitar processor, as the modelled strings are very natural sounding and can be used with amp simulators and other effects. Simply turn off the inbuilt delay effect for a clean sound.
This demo is limited by audio dropouts! If you like this demo, please purchase the full product.
EerieSynth is a fast, high quality, live performance-oriented, multi-touch synthesiser. EerieSynth was designed to allow fine slide-based expression in two dimensions across a familiar piano keyboard interface. Foregoing the use of samples, EerieSynth offers you access to its underlying synthesiser, featuring two oscillators with four waveforms, six types of filters and two routable LFOs, as well as the option to attach an LFO to the Y-Axis. The synth’s abilities are further increased by an analog-like delay that allows smooth delay time changing (and thus some very wacky effects), endless feedback and timbre manipulation via a lowpass and highpass filter.
While EerieSynth is primarily aimed at creating expressive lead sounds, polyphony allows the creation of lush pad sounds, and the sliding interaction enables vast multitouch expression that cannot be achieved on a real synthesiser. Easily change between continuous sliding and snap-to-note if you think you have trouble staying in tune.
Interestingly, EerieSynth can generate male, female and childlike voice sounds, with its carefully designed formant filters. In this mode it is possible to manipulate the vowel in real time, to make the synth appear to speak expressively. This allows the creation of soaring soprano voices and heavy baritone growls.
Perhaps most importantly, EerieSynth fills your entire screen with a variable octave keyboard, taking full advantage of both tablet and phone screens without cluttering the interface with anything that isn’t necessary for your performance.
The current version of EerieSynth contains a series of presets that will be expanded over time. A series of updates are planned to add additional features and functionality, and your feedback is important to us.
We hope you enjoy this synthesiser, and stay with us as we improve it and release further software.
