I'm a fat guy, looking to become a less fat guy. A lot of workouts are tough for me since I've spent my working career sitting on a chair in front of a computer, and I haven't done much better than that at home. I can do these workouts. I just finished week 2. I'm achy, but I'm making progress. It says Couch to 5k. It means it - you can be an unhealthy, overweight fat slob like me and still do this.
I used this app four years ago to train for my first 5K obstacle course (Warrior Dash) and to lose thirty pounds. Since then I have had two children. Now, I am using it again to drop the excess baby weight. It is easy to use. And, I love to hear "You are halfway done" and "One minute left" as that is when my mentality is shifting to walking mode and hearing those words encourages me to push that little bit harder. Four years ago, this app helped me to learn to run, to love to run, to complete my first 5K, and to lose an excess of thirty pounds. I know that it will, again. Let's lace up those running shoes and hit the pavement.
Love the program, but the app is hard to navigate with too many ads and links to third party apps. It won't play music from another app, despite the embedded music player showing links to my Google Play account - it just won't work. It has reset on me without warning - left me running when it crashed! Not intuitive. I'd love to buy the pro version, but the free app has been too glitchy.
I don't normally do reviews. At the age of 54, I wanted to try to start running, to help with staying fit and controlling my weight. As a newcomer, I find this app helpful and supportive and it isn't so "gung ho" as the first one I tried (I really don't want to be told I'm "awesome" when I've barely got started). This app is sensible and I'll stick with it until I can run 5K (gulp!).
I used to run, a looooong time ago, so wasn't too sure if I'd be able to pick it up so many years later. I was pretty doubtful as to the effectiveness of this app but from the first session I was hooked. It's just what you need to keep you on track easing you gently into running so avoiding injury. So far I have not suffered any ill effects at all, although I do make sure I warm up before and stretch after. I can honestly say I am very pleased with the way the app has increased my ability in a very short time. 5 stars!
The app is mostly fine, but it's a complete battery hog even when closed. There is NO reason why I shouldn't be able to use the app without supplying the location permission, and even fewer reasons why the app should poll my location when closed. I have to deny the permission after every completed run to prevent my phone dying.
Fixed bug where Pausing the workout didn't work.
Workout 3 times a week, for 9 weeks, and you’ll be 10K-ready and it is now FREE!
