About this app

MacroLog is a macro-first calorie tracker for Android and iOS: log a meal four ways, see protein, carbs, and fat next to every calorie, and start with no sign-up.

FOUR WAYS TO LOG A MEAL
• Photo: point the camera at your plate; the AI names the dish and estimates the portion, and you confirm or adjust the grams before it is saved
• Barcode: scan packaged food and pull its nutrition label
• Voice or text: say or type what you ate and it is parsed into entries
• Search: 10,000+ foods in the in-app database, plus your own saved meals and recipes

MACROS, NOT JUST CALORIES
• Protein, carbs, and fat with daily goals and progress bars
• 12 micronutrients, water, and weight in the same diary
• Calorie goals from the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, adjusted for your activity level and whether you want to lose, maintain, or gain
• Steps and active energy are read from Health for display only — walking more never quietly raises your calorie budget
• Streaks, a day-by-day timeline, home-screen widgets, and a Live Activity

MADE FOR
• People who track protein, not only calories
• Lifters and gym-goers working to a daily protein target
• Anyone who wants to log a meal today without creating an account
• Small, frequent meals that are easy to forget — photo logging takes one tap
• English and Polish speakers (the app and macrolog.co are fully bilingual)

YOURS, AND PORTABLE
• No account, no sign-up: tracking starts on first launch
• Your diary lives in a local database on the device; cloud backup and multi-device sync are there when you want them
• The diary, your history, and the local food list work with no connection; photo, voice, and barcode lookups need one
• Two-way Health Connect sync (Apple Health on iOS) and CSV/JSON export — your data leaves as easily as it arrives

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How accurate is AI photo recognition?
Treat it as an informed estimate, not a measurement. The AI reads what is on the plate and guesses portion size from the image; you can edit grams, swap the matched food, or split a plate into separate items. For packaged food, the barcode scanner reads the printed label instead of estimating.

Do I need an account to use MacroLog?
No. There is no sign-up screen. You set your goals and start logging; the diary is stored on your device, and cloud backup uses an anonymous device identity if you turn it on.

Does MacroLog work offline?
The diary, your history, and the on-device food list work without a connection. AI photo logging, voice logging, and barcode lookups call out to a server, so those need one.

Is MacroLog free?
Yes, with a free tier: manual food search, unlimited barcode scanning, macro tracking, streaks, and a limited number of AI trials. Pro adds unlimited AI photo, voice, and text logging, recipe suggestions, micronutrient tracking, and data export.

How are my calorie and macro goals calculated?
From the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for your basal metabolic rate, multiplied by your activity level and adjusted for a lose, maintain, or gain goal. It is a starting estimate you can override at any time, and it is not medical advice.

Does it sync with Health Connect or Apple Health?
Yes. MacroLog writes calories, macros, micronutrients, water, and weight to Health Connect, and reads weight, steps, and active energy back. Steps are shown for context only and never change your calorie target. On iOS the same sync runs through Apple Health.

Does it work for keto, vegan, or intermittent fasting?
You can set your own macro split and log whenever you eat, so any of those fit. MacroLog does not hand you a diet plan or a coach — it tracks what you actually ate.

Where does barcode nutrition data come from?
Packaged-food data comes from OpenFoodFacts, a community-maintained product database. If a product is missing or wrong, you can enter or correct it yourself.
Calorie and macro tracker: log by photo, barcode, voice or search. No account.
