Finally an app which has Bible commentaries from the Church Fathers themselves! And it's FREE! If you haven't downloaded it yet, what are you wanting for?! EDIT: You mentioned you would add the deuterocanonical books once you find a translation that's free to use. It might be possible to get permission for the NABRE translation since YouVersion's Bible app has it. Meanwhile, you could use the Catholic Public Domain version. It's an English translation from the Latin Vulgate.
Pretty great. Only problem I see is you have all of these great things from the church fathers, but not the bible they had. The lack of the deuterocanonical texts is a bit odd. Also using the King James version is problematic in this way as well. I believe the Douay rheims translation is out of copyright and is prob the best translation from the vulgate there is.
Marvelous Idea! I am impressed with the quality of the app. It will help a lot on my Bible studies. But I've could not help noticing that lacks some books from canonical version of the Catholic Church. Hope I can see those. But still an amazing job!
Wow. This app is incredible. I can't imagine the amount of work and effort this took. The layout is neat, it is easy to use, not to mention extremely useful. I am simply amazed. This is one of the best apps I have ever downloaded and in my opinion even more useful than Google Maps. Google Maps shows you how to get to places on earth, it is limited. This one, the Bible, the Word of God, shows you the path to eternital life. May God bless and reward everyone who worked on this!
Thank you so much! I've looked for such an accesible and useful compilation of church father commentary but could not find anything. This app is exactly what I needed. It will help alot of people!!
Best thing I've downloaded in a long time. Thank you so much for this gorgeous and incredibly useful app! Can't wait for more versions of the Bible to be added to it, hopefully including the RSV-CE, the Douay-Rheims, the Vulgate, and the Septuagint.
Catena's first public launch!
