Charging for integration with Google Home is ridiculous. Chamberlain is way behind the curve when it comes to modern connectivity. Get on board or be left behind! Time to look for other consumer friendly options. The more partnerships and connectivity options you have, the better. Build a fan base and a following by including your customers and using their creativity. You instead do the opposite.
I bought the $60 gateway which promised connectivity but now they change their business plan by charging a subscription fee for IFTTT/Google Home even though these sort of integrations are free on other services and hardware devices. This company is slow to market with technology that people want and when they do eventually release something it's a subscription for the most mundane things. No thanks I will gladly pay more up front to someone else than get into a subscription plan with this company.
The app opens and closes the garage door fine, but what really lowered the score for me is that they are charging a subscription fee to use this with IFTTT and Google Home/Assistant. As someone who was so excited to hear about this functionality coming I was so disappointed by this decision. Especially seeing as no other product or service charges for IFTTT or Google Home/Assistant access.
The app can't control the light integrated into the opener. Using the app to shut the door emits an obnoxious series of beeps, flashes, and a delay to shut the door (so, since the kids' rooms are above the garage, using the app to shut the door in the morning is not possible). The app does seem to operate the door fairly quickly, which is appreciated.
UPDATE: As of yesterday the app was updated and they now are charging a subscription service fee to access IFTTT and Google Play. It's a pathetic $1/month or $10/year fee which is basically a "Stuff you" to existing customers who purchased the MyQ Internet Gateway device. No one charges for IFTTT and Google Home integration in such a blatant way. Very disapointed. Really enjoy the app and the notifications when door open for too long. Easy to use and has never failed me so far.
It's rudimentary and does not connect to Google and ITTT smart homes, except through an awkward subscription. They charge a fee for it unlike all other smart home apps and devices.
