Review from Alex bates
Always reconnecting The 'live chess' feature is unuseable on both phone and tablet as connection keeps dropping out (regardless of wireless signal). Your time limit still drops whilst reconnecting!
App runs well on Pixelbook, Samsung S5, S7 Edge and Samsung Tablet S2. Use it mostly for daily (correspondence) chess, plus viewing games on either phone or tablet. Play live chess on tablet format simply for ease of use. Haven't played live on phone. Use phone format for tactics training, works very well for that. Lots of functionality beyond just playing games and tactics.
Great app, been using it for over 7 years to play daily chess. Love it so much. I realized years ago that playing chess everyday increased my problem solving abilities in all areas of life, not just paying chess. Wouldn't give it up for anything. There's a bug in the app, if someone sends you a draw offer and you ignore it, the draw offer won't disappear from your alerts panel. You'll have to uninstall the app to get rid of the annoying alert.
Great application. The only one thing that is annoying is that after you watch a game and it ends, the same players might start a new game and you may carry on viewing - the problem I have is when the phone goes to sleep and you turn it on again that current game disappears and you have to go and search it again within the watch tab. I would say the application if opened should not be as an "inactive app" to the android phone.
Buggy fwd and back buttons in Analysis mode. Staunton Theme re-downloads from time to time. Sucks. Draw request declined but still notification persists after game won. Thankfully I had a backup of an earlier version which works fine. Uninstalled the recent version and installed the earlier one. 3/5 till sorted :(
I love chess and this is the best app that I have found. But there are a few bugs, and a couple of features which would be great improvements. The first one is conditional moves. These aren't available on mobile, which is a bit annoying. Also when I go to my daily tournaments there is no way to go back to the list of current tournaments in one click. This would be great because it gets annoying when I want to check up on things and I have to go back 3 pages or so every time I want to check a tournament. Also it would be great have an option where you can see the details of the game (like source of game and rating adjustments). If these could be updated that would be great. Thanks!
Nice way to learn and practise your chess game. A good feature is that in a game you can make moves for both sides so you can see how the board changes. This way you don't have to do it in your head, but can see it right in front of you. Also the daily exercises and puzzles offer nice insight into the game. I think for the better players they are too easy, but for most they are a perfect exercise.
