I upgraded my phone to Android 7.0, now jabber will no longer open. Message says (presence service cannot complete a request). I have reset it, uninstalled it and reinstalled it and can't get jabber to work on 7.0.. I submitted a problem report as well.
I've been using a Nexus 6P for quite some time and the phone portion of Jabber hasn't worked for quite some time even though my communications team assures me I'm setup properly. Today, 3/30, I tried again after Jabber recently updated and everything works! The comms team assures me nothing has changed on their end so I think credit is due to Cisco. Yay! As promised, upgrading from 2 to 5 star rating!
I have a working installation, unlike others, but I still don't like this app. Kludgy. Can't IM to more than one other person, unlike Skype, which my company used before, which can support any number of people. For more than two people, have to fire up Webex-how kludgy is that? Looks like sophomore, non-CS programming class. Does not natively log into a server-puts up an instance of Chrome, which does not work from inside company intranet, so have to disable wi-fi, log in, kill Chrome, then turn wi-fi back on again. And Chrome has to be killed because it and Jabber together suck power fairly mightily and the jabber login process leaves Chrome running, doing nothing. Once Jabber's running, and assuming you want to talk to only one person at a time, it's OK. But, jeez, it's kludgy. Wouldn't use it except, from the evidence, it's cheaper for corporate, so bad is the enemy of good.
Half finished. Different versions of the app on various platforms don't sync up things like numbers of missed calls. Level of integration with desktop phone is minimal - e.g. Do NotDisturb on phone has no effect on the app's status.
I'm revising my review down to 3 stars. I got a robocall in the middle of the night last night. I'd like to block the number, but this app gives me no way to do that. Worse yet, I had DND turned on, and I do not have this app set as a priority app, yet this app still was able to set off its ring tone and wake me up.
There seem to be a bug in the app. If I make a call from app, all audio support is lost from the until next reboot. Cant play music, hear the phone ringing, cant even listen to other party neither on regular call nor on Jabber. Basically, the phone goes to complete silence mode. Please fix it in the next update asap. Thanks Device : Xiaomi MI5
