Citeum Community allows tourists and visitors to access to the whole tourist and cultural town assets, regardless of their ownership, whether they are located outdoors (e.g. monuments) or indoors (e.g. museum collections) from the same app, thus optimizing the visitor search and discharge time. Visitors only have to click an app to access multiple cultural and tourist options in the city. This translates into saving time searching for the interest’s content. The application allows administrator users to unify many institutions under the same app (e.g. a network of museums), working as a one-stop-shop. Visitors could always select and limit the amount of institutions to be seen at their choice. It reuses open content available in many cultural and tourism institutions all over the world.
Citeum was born of a concept of open app that brings benefits both as much to cultural heritage managers, as to the tourists and visitors interested in cultural tourism. National heritage managers and tourism officials can enjoy a cheap and easy application use. Until now, each institution developed its own app with a high cost of development and implementation, normally double (a cost for iOS and another cost for Android. With Citeum you can create the app for both environments). We should also think about the cost of updating the content of closed and regular apps in tourism sector, where it’s necessary to do frequent updatings. In Citeum that cost is nonexistent since the institutions themselves have direct access to their content’s maintenance.
Citeum is an open-app solution, meaning that the admin user can create their own apps and make any kind of content changes or updatings which could be immediately seen by the users on a mobile device. Easily, Citeum allows the administrator to create different apps for different uses and contexts. The application solves the need of publication on mobile devices and immediate updating of contents that concerns managers of cultural heritage and tourism from everywhere around the world. Citeum enables the creation of a single app for multiple organizations (for instance, an app for a network of museums). This provides important storage savings on the user's mobile device. It also represents a simplification of the access to different institutions (a single point access to multiple options). But still having a wide range of institutions and collections, the user of Citeum can choose the organizations that he wants to view on the mobile, skipping the rest.
