This is still terrible. Just wanted to update. If you have not yet subscribed, please don't. This is akin to robbery. You should be able to access content on the app if you have a digital subscription. No way to login with your existing account! Also, it constantly shuts down. And the chat support folks cannot drop you fast enough once they find out your issue. They must know it is unfixable. Extreme incompetemnce.

(still) unable to log in. I finally decided to see if I'd missed an update since I still havent been able to log in for months now to view the articles tied to the notifications I'm getting, but I guess there's no bug fix and we're all unable to access our paid content. Very frustrating, and certainly not the first time I've had trouble accessing what I'm paying for with the Statesman. Please fix this!

This app has the buggiest login process I've ever seen. Most of the time you can't log in to use the subscription you pay for. If you try to log in using your google account, it redirects you to the play store and times out. For the past few weeks, the password recovery link and process "were currently not functioning". Before that, if you had a subscription you'd have to activate it almost every time you'd want to read your local paper. 2009 app shoehorned into a semi-modern interface.
