Bit annoyed that the altitude is out by a factor of 10 and a bug with the distance reverting to 29.3 miles for a new track meant my average speed for a minute of walking was several, thousands of kph! Had to understand the uninstall and reinstall. Otherwise a generally good, easy to use free app
I tried several off road navigation apps on my azpen a1040 tablet. This app is one of the few that work without freezes or crashes. The interface is easy to use, records tracks with one tap and waypoints are easy to set. It is supposed to be able to allow loading of maps to an SDcard also, but I have not trried to do that yet. If that works this app will ba 5 star Plus.
Excellent, I love it. One tiny thing though, the recently added feature of the abillity to write to external card doesn't work due to it not being able to find it. This is only app that can't find my external SD card.
The way this app downloads completely free map tiles, from different sources, in different overlays (cycling, transport, hiking, nautical etc.) and from any place in the world, through "visual selection" is absolutely groundbreaking and super nifty. Setting a target is extraordinary fast, easy and accurate at that. It could be the world's best off-line hiking app, if it wasn't for the mesmerizing fact that it LACKS BEARING (= great circle course to target) INFO. It does feature a visual clue in the form of a green line pointing from your current position to target, but that's not quantitative info, so you can't input it into another device (like the dial of an old school compass, or a sailing plotter). At any rate, that green line represents the rhumb line (loxodrome), not the great circle line. So at bigger distances, even that info becomes unreliable. Also, on the map there is no way to connect way-points with a course line, to form routes. If these 2 issues (in that order) were addressed, that would make it hands down the best free off-road, on-foot, and even nautical navigation app out there! So PLEASE!!! (PS: gave it a one star rating to get app makers' attention)
Why it's doesn't detect my external SD card? I install Maverick and after that move it to sd card and I want to keep cach also on sdcard but it doesn't detect it unfortunately.
Awesome App! How can I upgrade to pro? Please!
