So the app is nice, when the services work... But why is it that everytime the market sags the Coinbase services go down? In a bad market you could really get screwed hard here... I understand high volume, but with all the fees they collect with such volume you'd think they would be able to handle the load... If you are seriously trading or have a large account you may look elsewhere as I have had a coinbase account for a month now and at least once a week you have no access to you funds and are ar the mercy of the market.... this day in age, with this much money at stake, this is simply unacceptable. These problem are not only isolated to the mobile app, but the entire website and services as well...
the app/wallet is straight forward and easy to use. this review is more about coinbase as a company. i got uber boned on the great flash crash of June 21 2017 and despite not having to do anything to appease customers like me, they are doing it anyway. kudos to these guys.... way to show some class. i will be a customer with both the app/wallet as well as the exchange. speaking of the exchange, ill leave this review by saying that, if youre going to buy dips and sell peaks, do not.... i repeat DO NOT use the app/wallet. use the exchange as transfers are free between the 2 and fees are much more affordable. one last word of caution..... carefully consider all risks if/when using margin.
Extremely slow (you'll be waiting about a week after you pay them before they actually transfer the coins to your account), but good interface and the transaction fees are fair. Conclusion: Coinbase is a great app for beginners that want to spend a small amount of money playing in this market for fun, or someone who's looking to make a long term investment that they plan on letting sit for years. If you're more serious about investing in cryptos though, this app probably isn't for you. The insanely long "pending" periods for any transaction makes the app essentially useless from a trader's or professional's perspective.
I purchased 3.33 Ethereum coins for about $287 per coin via ACH with Chase Bank over two weeks ago. Received a confirmation e-mail that they would be deposited in about 5-7 days. Then the day they were supposed to show up the app didn't have any record. Chase Bank says has no records of any attempted ACH (but Coinbase sent me an e-mail confirming the transaction would take place?) Sent mycopy of that confirmation e-mail to Coinbase e-mail support to inquire about my coins. They respond stating they are under heavy workload and could take up to 72 hours to respond. That was well over four days ago. Their system malfunctioned this same way with a friend of mine. I hope they are honest and honor their promise because I would've cashed out for a roughly $400 profit by now.
Good app but sometimes does not update charts properly. I could be looking at BTC prices but the ETH charts are being displayed. It has a good 2 factor authentication method for login. I have not been able to login since 6/21/17 even after updating the app. I get the error jsonreader.setlenient(true)..... Please fix soon!! I tried deleting cache and data. Also updated the to the current version
Charged my card two small transactions to verify, I entered the amounts in the app, and it said incorrect. Now it says wait 24 hours and try again... Now after poking around it says "Account deleted. You will be missed!" There. That's better. Don't do a referral program when you obviously aren't ready for traffic. This directly lead me to learn about Kraken and Gemini. Thanks for the referral lol.
