Community Alert is an instant messaging application designed for use by people in a community bound by love where everyone is his brother's keeper. Prompted by insurgents attacks that have left several innocent people dead in Nigeria, the emergency alert features of the application is intended to be used to create security awareness among individuals or group and help call attention of security agents for prompt intervention. Two versions are available: User Edition and Admin Edition. The Admin Edition has the additional capability of managing users and broadcasting important information. This is for the use of the Security Personnel, Medical Emergency, Fire Service and NSCDC. The application is easy to use. By default, it is installed in Trial mode for the purpose of evaluation. You will need to activate after 7 days to get user license. In this mode, just long-click SOS Community Alert, select relevant emergency option and every user in your domain will be alerted instantly with location information. The location map will help security agents locate the origin of distress call by opening Map and Navigation Tool. Other emergencies like fire and health are also included. Pipeline vandalisation may also be reported to NSCDC. Users will be able to identify the danger zone to avoid and stay safe. Please note that it is an offence to raise false alarm. Use responsibly. This application requires internet and a GPS-enable device. Subscription is annual and requires use of a scratch card which will be obtainable from Approved retailers and Admins. Although specifically made by a Nigerian for Nigeria, it may be used in other Countries where applicable. This project was prompted by DIG Peter Gana when he was Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Nigeria. It is therefore released in his honour and in response to IGP's call for private partnership on Community Policing. Enjoy it! Engr. Patrick Olusanya Elisha.
