Fraud protection
The app also gives you additional protection from fraud. This is because we alert you of any account changes such as new device registration & if there are a change of details.

Logging in
If you’re already registered for online banking, you will need your username, password & 6-digit security code to log in.
If you’re not registered for online banking you can either do this by tapping 'Register for online banking' in the app, or register for online banking on our website.

Device compatibility
For security reasons, you’ll need to be using Android 9 or higher. You also will not be able to use the app if your device is rooted.
If you are not able to update to this version, you can log into online banking to access your accounts instead.

Terms of use
We collect non-personal user data to monitor how well the app works. For example, measuring how long you spend on a particular screen. We collect a limited amount of personal data to allow you to use the app, for fraud prevention purposes & to help us to fix problems & improve the app for everyone. Everyone is opted in to this feature. If you do not want us to process your personal data in this way, please delete the app. If you download the app, you consent to sharing how you use it. Please note: We will not charge you for downloading or using the app. However, your mobile network provider may charge you for data use, depending on your tariff or contract. Contact your operator for details. You may also use this service when connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Ratings and reviews

As of mandatory update on 22/2/24, the app no longer opens. Uninstalling, restarting phone, reinstalling app makes no difference. Up until now, I seem to have been fortunate that the app has worked mostly trouble-free. Admittedly it's not got as many features as some of the newer banks' apps. Coupled with no longer being able to make international payments online, without having to endure a 30 minute scripted conversation with a customer service operative, I'm starting to reconsider ethical bnk

I've been banking with the coop for 20+ years and this is by far the worst banking app. You can't do anything. Anytime you want to amend a payment or change a direct debit/standing order, you have to log into the desktop app so it's pointless. You also can't log in easily. It spends forever on the "finding a secure connection" page and only works if you don't have any other apps open! I updated the app today too and I can't get past that page either so at the moment the app is useless!!

I've just moved to the co-op and as much as I like how much more ethical they are compared to my past bank I wish I'd been able to use the app beforehand as it just doesn't have the same functionality. Please add an option to have a notification for every transaction, I've gone through all the settings and have turned on notifications but it's not for transactions?? isn't this the most basic function of the app? It also claims I can open a savings account from the app but it just errors.
