Color Compass Prototype

THIS IS JUST A PROTOTYPE! A PROOF OF CONCEPT! No feature of this app will actually secure your phone. No version of Android properly supports 3rd party lock screens.

This app is a proof of concept for a new way you could lock your Android device. You configure a pattern of colors and combinations and when you would go to actually unlock the device you enter the original pattern however the difference is that, while unlocking, the colors will overlap the directions. With a pattern like "Red, North, West, Green" you will press Red, regardless of what direction Red is located at, then (after the colors scramble to new locations) you'll press North and ignore what color is at that position. An on looker won't be able to determine if where you pressed was supposed to indicate a color or a direction and due to the randomness of the scramble they won't be able to blindly press the same pattern that you did.

A lock screen of this design is not vulnerable to a smudge attack or even direct observation. The ambiguous nature of the input means there are things only you and your device know that nobody else can easily determine. Also, unlike the current pattern lock screen, your pattern can be as long as you wish.

This experimental app will let you toy with the configuring and unlocking of a lock screen using this design. No permissions. No ads. Nothing is actually secured or saved. This is just a proof of concept to see the design in action.
