Update ruined Hangouts. unless the developers bring back the previous approach to Hangouts which was simply people indicating they want to hang out right now and what they want to do (completely effective) and remove all of the curated noise and junk. I will be canceling. the reason I had couchsurfing was to find other people as I travel. there is no way to indicate your personality or preference on Hangouts. only pre-configured boxes nobody uses. who did use a research here???

The May 2026 update removed the ability to filter or sort by last login (and also removed the login date from people's profiles), which has made it completely unusable, given than more than 90% of users have not signed in for a very long time. It seems like the people who built the app have no idea what CS is or how people use it.

Absolutely hate the new update. The old UI was not great but at least it worked OK. The hangouts feature never did. The new UI is such a cluttered mess. Why do I want my home screen to be filled with activity from other travelers? I don't care! Just let me see my own stuff. Don't make me hunt for it! And hosts don't see the messages I wrote to them. They see the trip post and they assume that's the personal message. Glad I don't have to pay for this nonsense.
